12 oz bottle poured into a Pilsner Urquell glass.

Pours a hazy yellow color with two full fingers of fluffy foam. Aroma is husky, grainy, some phenol, banana, bubblegum. Quite aromatic.

First sips has a grainy sweetness with lingering bitter finish. Lots of Belgian yeast flavors and a spicy alcohol bite. This has a lot of flavor, but I'm not a big fan of the typical Belgian yeast flavors. Overall nice, just not my preference.

12 oz bottle into a red Solo cup. A little too sweet for a farmhouse ale. Otherwise very good and well made. If you have a sweet tooth, you'll like this a lot.

355ml bottle poured into a tulip glass

Look: Fairly light, coppery colour with just a hint of haze - off-white head drops quickly to a thin surface layer of foam.

Smell: Surprisingly complex - lots of different fruity smells that you'd typically associate with 'proper' Belgian beers (think orange, lemon, banana) with an additional mix of earthier, herbal notes and a slight vinegary tang. Lacks the barnyard feel that a lot of Belgian saisons seem to have, though. In short, there's a lot going on here.

Taste: Interesting - definitely a smooth, buttery vibe to this one along with the fruit notes. Quite spicy too, with strong hints of pepper and cloves. Again, seems to lack the 'rawness' and sourness that true Belgian saisons have but that's not necessarily a bad thing in this case.

Feel: Manages to be both smooth, slightly oily and crisp at the same time - no mean feat. Not nearly as dry as you'd imagine and despite the merest hint of alcohol in the aftertaste you'd not think this weighed in at 7.2% ABV.

Overall: I don't think it's fair to compare this to a true Belgian saison - they tend to be fairly raw and astringent, neither of which can be said of Gigi's as it tends more towards the sweet, possibly too sweet for some. Not bad by any means, but perhaps a bit too cloying for my particular tastes.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/3/2013. Pours moderately cloudy deep orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, biscuit, light honey, and yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy yeast spice on the finish; with lingering notes of orange, pear, apple, light banana, clove, pepper, herbal, grass, biscuit, light honey, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; with a nice crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice saison. Good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, earthy hops, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.
