A- pinkish orange with huge chunks of thick yeast sediment and a fluffy white head. The sediment is unappealing in this style and I ended up transferring glasses to remove most of it.

S- grainy pilsner, a touch of sulfur, light green apple and just a little fruitiness that isn't distinctly cherry.

T/M- pretty laid back and mellow flavor with some doughy grain and yeasty components giving a pizza crust character with a finish that's moderately full, syrupy and very lightly sweet and sour leaving a very light cherry taste in the finish.

O- I feel like I spent the entirety of this beer searching for cherry beyond the yeast clumps and doughy pilsner taste. Comes out as a fairly thick, moderately sweet lager. Not bad but not good for a fruit beer.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

For a fruit beer this is actually pretty good. While the lager part of nothing to write home about it is what it is ... crisp and clean. Clean enough to let the cherry flavor through which is a lot more subtle than anticipated. Well rounded and drinkable. Bit of hoppiness in the finish to remind you it is a beer. Well done.

Pours clear, dark gold in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is sweet maraschino cherries, cherry juice, with a light lager backbone filled with grain and grass. Sweet and light bodied, makes for an interesting and sweet dessert beer. This is the cherry dessert beer that I have been looking for. I would get this more often if it were available locally.

12 ounce bottle poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a beautiful dark-straw, slightly light amber color with reddish/pink highlights, topped by two fingers of off-white head, speckled with reddish/pink highlights. The head lasts forever, too, leaving an excellent lacing coating the glass as its drunk. Beautiful looking beer!

Aroma: Fruit! Cherry and plums, followed by yeast and maybe hits of oatmeal or biscuits. But definitely fruit!

Taste: Wow, nice balance of the traditional lager notes of yeast, malt, biscuits, subtle hops, that’s then accented by, not overpowered by the fruitiness of the cherry and plums, which gives a very slight, but pleasant sour note in the back of the throat. Delicious!

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and very effervescent and palate cleansing. With an ABV of 5.20%, there is no alcohol on the palate.

Overall: I really liked this beer. It’s very refreshing with a superb balance between the fruitiness of the cherry and the breadiness/buscuitiness of the lager. I’m going to have to keep some more of this on hand.

Old Dominion Brewing Co. "Cherry Blossom Lager"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "BOTTLING DATE 01/11/16" on 04/05/16
$2 @ Giant, Havertown, PA

Sweet, floral and perfumy cherry greets you in the nose as you pour Old Dominion's Cherry Blossom Lager. An initially frothy, and then rocky as-it-settles, head rises above a slightly hazy golden and orange body. The head retention is very good, and although it drops to just a thin collar and very thin & whispy surface covering, the lacing remains quite nice.

In the mouth it's medium bodied leaning towards medium-light, and smooth across the palate with the gentle caress of a very fine-bubbled moderate carbonation.

Beyond the cherry, which is pretty bold and sweetish, there's a soft blanket of malt behind it in the flavor. It's softly grainy, and peppered with lightly spicy and grassy hops. The bitterness is, of course, limited to allow the cherries to shine, yet it somehow manages to finish fairly dry, and without an over-lingering fruity finish.

I'd initially thought, given the bold cherry in both the aroma and flavor, that this might be a one-trick pony but it's not. The malt base has a very nice pilsner-like quality to it, and I'm sure with a little more bitterness added it would completely stand on its own sans-cherry. Notes of almond, commonly found with cherries, add an additional layer of complexity. Some might find it a bit sweet, but I assure you that it's at least worth a try. Really nicely done!

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. This is a crystal clear light amber colored beer with a moderate sized white head. The aroma is of faint hops and cherries. The taste is a big sweet cherry flavor. A really interesting beer.

An Orange pinkish color with a pink tinted head. Dry grain and cherries on the nose. Light crisp bubbly body. Sweet grains with a touch of cherry flavor. A little sour on the back end. Drinkable but was hoping for something a bit brighter in flavor and the sourness is kinda killing it for me. A touch of some sort of bite on the back end too, possibly a small touch of alcohol?

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a light brown color with pinkish hues and a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some cherries, a touch of grains. Taste is also rather mild, grains, light cherry, a touch of malts. Feels light in the mouth and overall this is a mediocre beer.

On the sweet side. Way more cherry than Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, which I enjoy. I liked this beer a lot, but too sweet to drink more than 1 at a time.

A: Light amber with a tinge of pink to it, large off white head on top.

S: Smells very heavily of maraschino cherries. Sweet, dense cherry aroma.

T: Huge hit of cherries. Sugary sweet cherry. There is a nice little hint of almond in there, as well as a touch of malt in the finish, but pretty much just a cherry bomb. It is everything I like about Sam Adams Cherry wheat blown up to a proportion that makes it overdone, and cloying. The first few sips are tasty, but as you continue to drink it becomes overly sweet.

M: Medium light, but I think the carbonation is a touch lacking considering the style. Residual sweetness afterward.

O: Overall an interesting brew, but a little too cloying.
