Palate Contaminants: other beer

Color is a medium-light straw. Plenty hazy. Not much head, but sticky lacing.

Really sharp pine sap scent. Hell, the needles, too. Slightly sweet. Minor amount of true citrus.

Taste is dialed back from the scent, with the pine tree being more of a sapling. The citrus transitions over to pineapple. Lemongrass, as well. Way in the background there's an herbal element.

Medium weight and fine carbonation. The aftertaste is weak grapefruit juice and sawdust.

Poured can to pint glass. Hazy gold color with a small head. Smell is typical citra hops. Taste is grapefruit with some mango with low bitterness. Pretty smooth. Nice beer.

16 oz can, canned 4/6/18. Pours very hazy orange yellow with a medium frothy white head that retains fairly well and leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is lots of sweet fruit with some stinky resiny hops in the background.

The flavor is sweet soapy wheat malts with big fruity resiny hops. The mouthfeel is a little light and watery.

Overall, an OK NE pale ale.

From a 12-oz. can dated 06/28/18 poured moderately into a 16-oz. mug creates a short lived, finger sized frothy white head with average lacing. Hazy with sediment, opaque pinapple/orange juice color. Color does not change in front of light.
The smell is citrus juice, sweet malt and bright piney hops.
The taste starts off with a hoppy/lemony bitterness that is replaced with semi-sweet malt and carbonation that drops away fast to a much lighter taste. The taste comes back at the finish with some peppery alcohol and a hoppy/citrus bitterness. The feel mimics the taste as it starts off meduim bodied with solid CO2 then thins out in the middle, returning with a light semi dry finish.
There is some malt in this beer but not enough to support the middle of the taste/feel profile. It needs a malt back bone.

A: Pours a hazy yellow-orange color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a thin cap that leaves good lacing

S: Citrus, light pine, and bready malt up front along with touches of fruit and grass

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the citrus and pine and then goes into some fruity and earthy notes before finally picking up the bready maltiness. Finishes with light bitterness and fruity notes

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A solid and easy-drinking pale ale that very closely borders an IPA. Love galaxy-hopped beers and this is no exception

This is a lovely straw colored pale ale with lots of drinkability. It is very similar to a NEIPA so I am not sure why a pale ale, but its pours a very light but still opaque straw gold and has nice frothy white head which really bring the pleasant tropical aromas right to you. The first impression is a very crisp backbone with a creamy lactose mouthfeel and mouth puckering grapefruit and hints of kiwi and maybe a little pineapple too.
This is a very quaffable if not perfect beer. Not a first choice for me in this type of beer but it is a solid backup as it is easy to find here in the Boston area. As other reviews have pointed out, the finish is just a tad flat. In my experience, this happens when the beer is above a certain temperature. Best served ice cold and if you sip you might not like the second half as well as the first. An insulated drinking vessel solves the problem.

I moved from Massachusetts a couple of years ago, and so this is the first Lord Hobo beer I've had after the four they initially offered. 4 packs of tall boys were on sale in Southern PA .

Glorious pours like an NE IPA, actually very nice looking for the style. Bright yellow, excessively hazy with a very nice, rocky white head.

And it smells like something you could have gotten at Bissell Brothers in 2015; big hops, lemony and bitter. A bit one-note, but still very nice.

It doesn't taste as good as it smells, however. Huge Galaxy hops up front give way to a soapy middle and the bitter finish doesn't do enough to tie everything together.

It's all still pretty good, but it's not worth what it costs.

Can dated 5/10/18 into pint glass. Pours a hazy straw color with a fine, off-white head. Initial impression is citrus rind, dank and bitter. Mouthfeel is medium, as is carbonation. Finish is bitter citrus rind bite.
It's actually quite good. I could go with a little less carbonation and a little more malt, but I'd certainly have this one again.

Wonderful lighter orange milkshake look with a decent white head. Sweet citrus candy nose, holy smoke will this translate. Tasty with a dank citric flavor and somewhat less bitterness/bite. Wish it had a tad more sweetness but dank and juicy none the less. Like this one pretty well. Thicker feel with less carbonation.
