Notes:
Doomsauce has notes of soft, tropical fruits normally found in Boomsauce, but is complimented with a velvety, smooth dark finish. The malts used are Midnight Wheat and Blackprinz. Midnight Wheat is the smoothest black malt available, because you get a slightly sweet, slightly roasty, incredibly clean finish versus any bitter, astringent, or dry flavors. Blackprinz is used for the same reason that Midnight Wheat is, except its just a little more subtle and maybe a hint more of a roasty malt. Adding the black malts are used for the smoothness and not for any bitter or astringent tastes.

16 oz can into IPA glass. Dated 10/15/19.
Look is black. Smell is sweet malt. Taste follows nose and is very malty. Feel is medium. Overall would not call it a BIPA. Expected more hops. Like the name not the beer.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 1/28/2019. Pours hazy/opaque dark brown/black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, black currant, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit dough, toasted dark bread, and herbal/floral/grassy/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and black/roast/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, black currant, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit dough, toasted dark bread, and herbal/floral/grassy/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, apricot, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, black currant, blueberry, citrus peel/rind, wood, peppercorn, pine, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, biscuit dough, toasted dark bread, and herbal/floral/grassy/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and black/roast/bready malt flavors; with a great hop/char malt/bitterness balance; and no acrid/astringent hop/roast flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/sticky, and fairly chalky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.8%. Overall this is an awesome black DIPA. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and black/roast/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV, with the modestly bitter/resin/charred/drying finish; not overly aggressive/charred on roast. Awesome Ella, Mosaic, Falcolners Flight, Amarillo profile. Extremely juicy and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a perfectly balanced wheat, oat, black, roasted malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from lingering resin dryness. A really enjoyable offering, and impressive style example. Hoping for this style to make a comeback sometime.

Poured a black body with minimal head and great lace around the glass. The aroma does have citric hops in there, but they are underneath a mild roasted malt aroma with hints of chocolate. Decent balance, good citric and dirty hoppiness underneath a rather dry, heavy, maltiness with touches of sweetness. The ABV is well-hidden, at least it is not noticeable, and it's a smooth beer and worth trying.

Single can from Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, MI.
Pours a clear black with teaming creamy brown head that caps the top of my tulip.
Aroma of grapefruit, grainy roasted malt, earth hops, pine and slight coffee note.
The taste has earthy floral hops, grapefruit pith, evergreen on a rich roast chocolate malt base, with building pine and coffee bitterness.
Medium full mouthfeel on moderate carbonation with lingering hop bitterness, but enough malt sweetness to make very drinkable and hiding the 7.8% ABV.

I had some draft Boomsauce last night and a tall boy of Doomsauce tonight. Fun to compare.
Pours a near black with a small tan foam. Medium carbonation.
Both lead with a strong hop aroma. The addition of wheat malt to DS gives a darker roasted taste than BS. This pretty much hides the fruity notes in BS for my tongue.
This is nice wheat IPA!

A moderate pour from a 16-oz. can yields a finger of khaki foam with long retention and patches of lace. Black coffee brown (almost black) with dark brown-amber highlights.
Citra hops with lemon and orange greet the nose, faint caramel and roasted malt with a little coffee.
Citrus juice almost adds sweetness to the taste. 1st up is roasted taste followed closely by caramel malt then bitter roasted un-malted barley. Between neutral and semi-dry with average bitterness at first. Chared earthy wood with dry red grape and general baked fruit build up the taste. The finish is dry with a considerable rise in bitterness from roasted barley and hops. The aftertaste is bitter and long, a moderate astringency lingers.
Medium-light body with ample carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden, it emerges during the aftertaste. NEIPA juiciness and sweetness are matched by roasted tastes and bitterness. The aftertaste is a little too strong. It states “Black Double IPA” on the label.

Mango, papaya, and pineapple pleasantly mixed with black coffee, dusted cocoa, and caramel. Pine resin and grapefruit persists.

Overall
Tropics mixed with dark roasted malts. A genre severely under represented. Bring it back!

Ahh, the black IPA, my first of the style. From what I understand, there is not many that are widely available anymore, so I'm very excited to try this one
Pours a very dark brown with 2 fingers of khaki colored head that slowly fades to a cap and leaves great lacing
There's definitely a nice balance in the aroma. I get lots of piney hops, roasted barley, dark fruit, chocolate malt, and a light touch of tropical fruit
The front of the palate brings notes of roasted malt and bright oily hops. The swallow really brings this to life, dialing in notes of citrus hops, charred wood, tobacco, and roasted malt
A chewy medium body and light carbonation pair for a smooth beer that feels somewhere between zippy and decadent. This finish is wonderfully dry and bitter
Damn, I'm impressed. Not one of the best beers I've ever had, but it seems like this one was all about the balance. I look forward to trying more examples of the style in the future

Lasting beige head which leaves thick ring lace after each sip. The color is deep dark brown where no light passes.
Mild aroma of graham crackers and semisweet chocolate, reminiscent of S'mores.
Rather thin body but perhaps it's enhanced by the higher effervescence. The start has a light unexpected sourness. The malt has a dry, deeply toasted malt flavor. The finish is moderately bitter from hop, not burnt barley. The combination works but doesn't overwhelm.

A nice, assertive Black IPA. I really like the style and wish I saw it more often.
Punchy, dark, spicy and citrus fruit hops blend with char-roasted character. Body is smooth but medium-light and without the chocolate sweetness you might find in a stout. Good strong bitterness and a dry roasty finish.
Overall very good! I could drink this all through fall/winter.
