Sure, the Northwest loves hops, but how about even more hops! Open that 22 ounce bottle and go on to the beer:

Just a tiny white lace atop a dark copper beer, otherwise there's no proper head to speak of. The hops are alive at least, and I smell resin, toasted sugar, leaves, and a note of tangerine. Even the taste is pleasing as well, and despite being unable to identify the freshness of the bottle, I was happy to taste what I found. Tangerine, grapefruit, a wee note of diacetyl, hop leaves, and pine. It's full bodied, yet the beer feels nearly flat. Imagine what proper bubbling could do with this hoppy treat.

Thanks to Stardusthotel83 for this extra 22 oz. bomber in a recent trade. There’s never enough hops in the house. Split with my wife.

Perfectly clear copper; the lack of haze has already dropped this into “C” range. Nose is old growth resinous pine that’s smoothed out by oats or something similar. Not bad.

Eruption is one of the smoothest IPAs I’ve had - there has to be a heavy bill of oats, or lactose, or laxatives in this. Smooth & sweet doesn’t immediately come to mind when one imagines an IPA, but here it is. Draw back the curtain & one finds moderate bitterness, pine, corn syrup, hulled grains, honey, honey dew. Creamier than most cream ales, with a massive caramel backbone. Not terribly easy to swill.

An interesting IPA that brought to mind Hopslam, but without the angelic singing. So much malt. Good beer nonetheless.

22oz bottle served in a large mug. Can't find a date on the bottle.

Pours a slightly hazy straw-golden with a smallish head and medium to low carbonation. Smell is tropical and piney, nice.

Taste is moderate honeysuckle sweetness with a strong piney bitterness and overtones of mango and pineapple.

Mouthfeel is full but dry. Overall, very good beer.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery amber with a half finger white head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus and piney hops with a hint of dankness, light orange citrus. Flavor follows, with caramel malt base, citrus and piney hops, a hint of toffee; finishes with resinous citrus and piney hops, pleasant dry toffee, lingering hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A tasty IIPA with a classic Northwest profile of caramel malt and regional hops, the flavor is malty to start and almost a bit underwhelming at first, but builds to a quite flavorful finish with good alpha hop flavors with interesting toffee malt support. Enjoyable and well made. I'll check out more from this brewery.

The aroma is quite enticing, honeysuckle and citrus. Flavor is light malt with a lot of citrus hops. Tangerine with a lemon peel taste. Melon flavor is quite nice. Bitter and woody aftertaste. Not as sweet as a lot of DIPAs.

Golden yellow in the Kasteel chalice. Not overly carbonated. Acidic on the tongue with just a touch of malty sweetness. Really a decent big IPA with great aromatics. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Belliingham.

Sumerian Eruption double IPA. 22oz bottle served in curved glass. Beer reads 8.0% ABV • IBU 95 on the label. Aroma is loaded with dry hops: fruity, tropical, with evergreen notes coming in secondary. Color is between straw yellow and gold brass, very clear, with only a bit of white head. Flavor is hoppy of course, but less bitter than expected. There's quite a bit of unfermented malt here. Still, the finish is remarkably clean, with neither chalky nor bitter nor sweet aftertaste.

This is an exceptionally well crafted DIPA that just so happens to include a kitchen sink full of hops.

What can I say? I love hops and this beer completely delivers. Poured from a growler (thanks Paul) and it shows a dark orangey gold with moderate lacing. Dank, Grapefruit and pine aromas are immediate and welcomed. The palate is all about the hops but still balanced and not overly bitter. The finish is crisp and strong, with just enough bitterness that I don’t feel cheated. Great DIPA.

This guy, poured from a bomber, pours amber/orange, and clear, with a thin head. Aroma is fresh hops. Some citrus. Quite good.

Taste is hoppy, tart, grass, onion with a slight bitter in there. Piney as it warms up, and some mellow malts to fill it out. Great DIPA, big flavor yet very well balanced. Slight stickiness at end. The booze is hidden, this one could get you in trouble. Juicy and crisp. Reminds me of Ruination in its delicious mix of flavor... Cheers.
