not what I was expecting here. also listed now at over 8% abv, perhaps this changes batch to batch? pours a flat reddish color, almost entirely devoid of head or visible carbonation. a dense murky liquid appears lifeless and heavy. the nose on this is ester heavy, fruity stuff, bananas, dried berries, its a funny aroma. sweeter from the candy sugar too, and decidedly nutty on the first sip. the flavor profile works well in autumn, very much thanksgiving flavors, but the yeast seems to have come up short of full fermentation, and the acidity that this finishes with is out of place, although the flavor itself is fine. the main problem is the feel, its way undercarbonated. in a style known for its brightness, this really sags. its also overly thick in terms of body, and the alcohol stands out in that caustic fusel way, although I don't hate that here. overall this is perhaps an overly ambitious brew for this place, poorly executed. maybe its a yeast issue, I don't know, but this was probably the worst of the many beers they had on tap during my visit.
