One last review for the night, and then I'm retiring to the couch with some Albacore tuna.

A : Typical Hefeweizen color, golden and slightly hazy, roughly 60% transparent. The head is large and creamy, and stays around for awhile. It's at about 2 fingers when poured, 1 finger stable.

S : There's really not much here. Clean water, wheat chaff, banana peel at the bottom of the garbage. Weaker than a senior citizen's handshake. I'm sorely disappointed.

T : Some traditional Weizen flavors come out, with banana chips, some sourness of a berry, and a highly malty presence. Flavor it does not have, but drinkability in spades. Still...a weak representation and only slightly better than the aroma.

F : Creamy at the front, dissolves into water at the back. Carbonation is adequate and appropriate. The drinkability is supreme and is the best thing going for it.

O : What a weak beer. I'd actually lump this into an American Adjunct Lager category for its refreshing quality and total lack of substance. As I said, drinkability is great - and that's important, but this beer is good for not much else than pounding one down on a hot day while having a little wheat and banana there resting on your palate.

A 650mL brown glass bottle purchased in Portland, OR so presumably fresh though I don't see any bottling date.

Pours a hazy orange color with a boisterous white head. However, the head features incredibly large bubbles that dissipate quickly without even a whisper of lacing within just seconds of pouring. Looks flat, hazy, and somewhat gross.

Aromas are musty with only muddled hints of wheat, orange peel, and cracked black pepper.

On the palate, there is only a swampy, under-carbonated, bramble of nondescript flavors. Seems to have a very low pH, but somewhat reminds me of stomach bile.

Very uninviting mouthfeel and an almost unpalatable finish. I wouldn't peg this for a hefeweizen. In fact, in a blind tasting, I would be incredibly surprised to learn this wasn't first fermented using human spit. There are few macros I wouldn't rather drink over this. This reminds me of a beer you would find at a small brewery/restaurant that hasn't quite got its shit together. Amazing that this has the distribution that it does. One of the worst beers in the world that isn't Heineken or Corona. Seriously, this is undrinkable.

I will always remember this beer as my first Hefewiezen. Was the easiest to find for me being a domestic beer and I thoroughly enjoy it, hard to compare to imports but still my favorite domestic hefe. Fruitier taste than expected, good mouthfeel, cloudy appearance, very low hoppy-ness.

Poured from a bottle into an over-sized wine glass. Dark apricot color with a three finger head. Smells like steel? I taste the signature banana and clove but it's a danker and waterier version of better Hefes. A little bitter, but not in a good hops way. The mouthfeel is medium to light, overall I'd rather have something else.
