Canned 11/4/22
Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity), medium golden color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.50)
Aroma: Strong aromas of juicy pineapple, grapefruit, and some lime and white pine notes. (4.25)
Flavor: Strong flavors of lemon and grapefruit citrus, juicy pineapple, some green melon, lime and light pine notes. Not too sweet. (4.25)
Feel: Medium-bodied, strong carbonation. Finishes soft and smooth. Creamy, but not too sweet. (4.25)
Compared to Hop Butcher Green Fly 1/2023: Pours slightly darker, larger head. Stronger aromas. More citrus, grapefruit, pine. Less green melon and tropical sweetness.
Compared to Hop Butcher Mirror Ball 2/2023: Pours identical, similar aromas. Very similar, but slightly more green citrus and juiciness with less berry sweetness. Dryer and cleaner.
Overall: Very nice showcase of the Citra and Simcoe flavors while maintaining the classic Hop Butcher soft and creamy mouthfeel. Has the citrus and pine notes balanced by the juicy pineapple and green melon. I think I'd switch the name of this and Green Fly. This one has more bright citrus and airy while Green Fly was more dank and resinous like moss. Nevertheless, this one is great. (Rating: 4.32)

Light gold to yellow in color with a hazy complexion. Light, soapy lacing is present. There’s a solid inch of tightly knit and densely packed off white on top. The aroma is of pine, lime, and citrus. I’m tasting lime and pine hops. The mouth is very smooth and approachable.

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of grapefruit, pineapple, orange peel, toasted caramel and some piney notes. It tasted of tropical fruit, toasted caramel and piney bitterness.

Milky uniformly hazy pineapple juice pale orange/yellow pour with two fingers of bubbly white head.
Juicy citrus hop aroma, peach, pineapple with a mildly floral note and a touch of dankness.
Sweet and juicy Five Alive tropical orange drink flavour with a kick of piney hop taste and a touch of sweaty dankness. Peach and again a bit of a floral flavour. Delicious cold and changed as warmed remaining wonderful.
Medium full mouthfeel with bright tingly fine carbonation, delightfully sweet with a mild tropical citrus bittersweetness.
I have become very reluctant to dip into the hazy IPA world as burned on a few occasions - this was pricey but worth every penny.

Pours hazy, gold in color with one inch head. Taste is orange jelly candies, starfruit, and lime. Medium body, moderate carbonation, slightly sweet. Excellent neipa. The underlying sweetness is what differentiates this one. Hop Butcher makes some of the best ipas.

L - Murk
S - Citrus, peach, stones and fruit, a little dank
T - Good Citra-dominant beer here; reminds me of Half Acre BHA
F - Solid mouthfeel, consistent, no alcohol or hop burn. Nicely done.
O - This was one week old, fresh, delicious, and pretty solid.

6-week-old can poured into a big, fat, stemless wine glass.
Beautiful, glowing, light-gold coloring with a slight orange hue. Fully opaque and a little creamy looking. Finger of bright-white head that recedes quickly but is restored into a thin, creamy cap with a few swirls of the glass. A lot of thin, splotchy lacing. HB make some really good looking hazies, though this isn’t their best.
Very grassy and herbal with just a wee bit of dankness. Big citrus and stone fruit with wine grape and floral notes. Juicy Fruit gum and green tea. Smells a little sweet, but some of that probably stems from the fact that most HB beers are so I expect the same here. The aroma profile is very nice but a little muted.
I find HB beers to be pretty consistent across nose and tongue, and the tasting notes they mention on the can are usually pretty spot on. All of that is true here, too. Juicy citrus medley and a big dose of fresh peach and apricot. Lemon-lime, a little pine resin, and some not-insignificant layers of berry and grape. Pretty grassy. It has that familiar HB sweetness that seems like it stems from a mild but well-used dose of lactose (I don’t know if that’s actually true), but it drops off to a pithy grapefruit finish that’s reasonably balanced. Definitely lots of stone fruit presence in this one. Perhaps just a little bit of hop burn as well, but the sweetness covers it well. Easy drinking, for sure!
Familiar softness and creaminess from strong carbonation though the liquid itself isn’t sticky or heavy. Coating but clean.
Not my favorite Hop Butcher beer, but still very tasty and highly drinkable.

Canned 1/18/21.
L: Pours a hazy deep yellow. A few visible white floaties. Head quickly fades to a film, then nothing, despite an aggressive pour. Lacing is in small splotches that mostly disappear.
S: Orange, lemon, tangerine and the rest of the citrus family. None of the dirty socks / cat pee sometimes present with Simcoe.
T: More muted than the smell. Some orange and citrus, but not as much as the aroma. A little earthy in the middle. Finishes dry and slightly bitter.
F: Medium mouthfeel, but undercarbonated.
O. Smells great, tastes good, looks and feels a little flat. Have a feeling this was exceptional at < 10 days old.

16oz can, dated 01.18.2021, poured into a stemless wine glass.
The beer pours a very hazy and cloudy golden orange color, amber hues with a firm finger or so of white head that has good retention and yields a light network of spotted lacing. The aroma is great, tropical fruits, very floral with a great green grassy dank nature, light pine and earthiness, some soft peach and sweet yeast and pale dough. The flavors are great, tropical orange and peach juice, grassy, dank and floral with light pine, lots of raw hop leaf, weedy and sticky with pale dough, sweet yeast and a touch of mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating, creamy and pillowy with a heavier medium body that coats well and finishes easily with a hint of sweetness and mild dryness.
Verdict: A very nice NEIPA from Hop Butcher. There is a certain smoothness and creaminess to this beer that really hits the spot for the style. A touch of the sweeter side for my liking, but it's juicy and very fragrant and makes for a great session.
