Had on tap. Citra never fails, exhibit: too many to count. Murky and hazy yellow body with a white head. Smell has orange, lemon, mango, grapefruit, and a touch of lime star. Taste is pretty much the same, only some peach accents the mango and grapefruit more. As usual for HB sweeter hop resin in the finish. Feel is sticky, hazy, moderately hoppy and medium bodied. Prototypical hop butcher beer that doesn't stick out or disappoint

I really liked this one. I thought it was a good showcase for the Citra hop. The look was cloudy orange and looked like a glass of orange. The smell was strong orange and mango. The taste was lots of orange with mango and some grapefruit. Nice mouthfeel.

Canned 10/22/19; drank 10/27/19 @ the Yarchives.

Cloudy dull orange/yellow appearance.

A violent pour yielded a big eggshell head; thick frothy lace.

Peach, wheat & bubblegum notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Bubblegum & mild wheat flavors up front; sweet peach notes on the finish.

A bit too sweet, but overall enjoyable.

Hazy pale yellow, minimal spotty lace, frothy skim.
Fruity aroma, tangerine and mango sweetness, pale malt coming through.
Moderately bitter with some astringency, lemon curd and pound cake.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation and a fairly dry finish.
Overall not bad, doesn’t stand out in a big way, but solid.

I had high hopes for this beer. However, Hop Butcher has doubled down on the super haze formula, resulting in beers that taste very similar despite very different hop profiles. This beer is Citra and Citra cryo. Like other HB hazy beers, the mouthfeel is full and fat. Low bitterness. The hops struggle to break though the way that they would in a clean IPA. As a result, the beer tastes like other HB IPAs - muddled. Hop boyz seem to love it, though. Note the high scores for the HB haze and lower scores for the (sometimes) superior HB non-haze offerings. Guess that this is what the market wants, and HB is happy to provide it. If HB wanted to provide a variety of IPAs with quality hop profiles, they should look to Half Acre.

Pours a hazy bright orange color with a finger of off-white head. Pure Citra juice. OJ from concentrate for days, with orange gummis and smarties, ripe tangerine flesh, orange pith, floral, fresh-squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice, and ripe mango close behind. Doughy, slight vanilla wafer malt with a sugary sweetness. Solid medium body. Creamy, soft, and smooth mouth feel. Shows off the Citra hop extremely well. Possibly my favorite single IPA by these guys.
