Very Good
Artistry & AlchemyArtistry & Alchemy
Notes: Artistry & Alchemy is a luscious Imperial Stout brewed with copious amounts of dark Vermont maple syrup, oatmeal, and a plethora of roasted malts. Velvety, warming, and luscious. Complexity will develop with age.

Not sure of the bottle date code
Pours cola color with little to no head.
Smells of coffee, lightly. Maybe some syrup, but barely.
Taste reveals some of the maple sweetness. Along with very light roast coffee. Mild bitterness from the roast, not hops.
Really falls short of my expectations here. The body is not big enough to be a porter, let alone an imperial stout. Carb is on the medium side but not sure if the thinness of the beer contributes. Lingering bitterness.
I was hoping for a big stout with hefty maple sweetness and deep roasted malt flavors but came up a bit disappointed. i think the base is there with a decent coffee profile and the the maple does make showing. If they kicked things up a few notches here, higher gravity, more maple, maybe a little more ABV, and less carb, it might be something really great. But as it is now, it falls short of an above average imperial maple stout.

It is a light black, by which I mean it looks like a porter. Kind of thinner with hints of reddish brown. Very light cream colored head that is very moderate, but does retain a thin ring around the glass.

Smells sweet and like maple syrup. The rest is kind of a muted mess. A bit sour with licorice and coffee beans.

It tastes very sweet initially then gets very, very bitter. A combination of piney hops, dark chocolate, and what tastes like spent coffee grounds from the filter. Decent amounts of chocolate flavor, but kind of a sour, bitter, tobacco and licorice taste otherwise.

Body is fuller than I would have bet on. Nice silky feel.

This beer has more good qualities than bad, but needs some work. Like a Project Pam gone wrong. Just not a good bitterness.

2015 vintage keg poured into house glass at bar+bottle. Brown hue on the color but, mostly black. Tan head. Smells beautiful. Taste is wonderful. What is interesting about this beer is the mouthfeel. It's not thick and I appreciate it for the flavors coming through. Maple and darker malts appear to be highlighted without a foamy mouthfeel. Reminiscent of old world style of dark beers. I can say this beer is somewhat like "Comfort Food" in beverage form.

Sole Artisan Ales-Artistry & Alchemy was handed to me at a local craft beer gathering. Needless to say, I was not disappointed. Nice dark brown pour. Nice roasted malt , chocolate, and coffee taste.
Not a big hit of maple syrup , which , might be a good thing. Super silky mouth feel, with a 9.10 abv , that is very well hidden. If you don't watch yourself, it can and will sneak up on you! A very refreshing Imperial Stout to say the least. As the beer warms , the maple taste starts to emerge.
My biggest issue with this brewery is the fact the their Clink and Green Life disappeared from the shelves of our local grocery stores and beer distributers with out warning. When I asked the local beer buyer at the huge chain what's up with Sole , he told me , no warning was given by Sole. The brewery literally stopped making the beer that was enjoyed by many. This demonstrates a complete disregard for the consumer. Not cool , to say the least.

First had 3/5/16 at Stars of craft beer fest. Sole has become super desirable around the Lehigh Valley and Eastern PA, but this beer just isn't as flavorful as their other beers. Almost no smell. Tastes of roasted malts and maple syrup, but not strong enough to make it stand out.

Short pour at South Philly taproom. Almost black with a tight beige head. Sweet aroma, light maple. Taste brings chocolate, roast, coffee and light sweetness from the maple.

10oz pour at sabatinis in Exeter pa this morning.

Looks really nice in the small goblet. Black body with a tan head which persists throughout leaving some decent lacing.

There is an aroma of raisin, and it's quite boozy

The raisin doesn't come through in the taste, but the booziness certainly does. It's quite smooth. The issue here is that no other flavors or feels come through, including the syrup, so it's a bit one dimensional.

Mouth approaches full, finish is boozy.

All in all, not a bad drink, but perhaps a booze bomb was not the best choice for a lunchtime tipple.

A - Dark black pour with a creamy lacing ring.

S - Dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, earthy chocolate.

T - Chocolate and dark malt roast with a bitter dark chocolate/coffee/pine bite on the back end that lingers and offsets any and all sweetness from up front from the malt and maple syrup.

M - Medium body, light carbonation, no alcohol warming at all.

O - Didn't really get much maple out of this beer but, this is definitely solid.
