A: Pours a clear amber with a decent thumb of white head that has good retention
S: Can detect a faint Belgian yeast essence, mingled with light bready malt and a slightly spicy hoppiness.
T: Smooth lightly toasted malts and a tinge of sour yeast. there is a lightly spice flavor to the finish.
M: Light body, good carbonation and a very clean finish.
D: Much better than I anticipated, I normally only like the darker beers Russell produces, but this one was an enjoyable drink.

Amber-bronze with a white head, great retention & lace.
Earthy mineral aroma with hints of phenolic spicing and tropical fruit.
Sponge toffee, mineral, candied pineapple and mango, modest bitterness.
I expected a little more carbonation from a BPA, smooth with a light residual sweetness has an off-dry finish. Not quite as crisp as I'd expect.
A good drinker.

Not bad. I can detect the Belgian style to it, but it really lacks some of the characteristics of a true Belgian.
A little heavy on the copper side, with a nice white head.
Malt heavy, with a bit of bittering hops and traces of spice. There still is a certain something missing - maybe Belgian yeast, maybe certain hops or malts. It just doesn't taste quite right. More of an amber really....

Nice looking bottles as they only mention the Russell part in small print. This is a take on the Belgian pale ale / amber ale such as Palm or De Konnick. Vancouver also has a beer from the Mark Anthony Group called Stanley Park amber that tries for the same style. I think this is better as it has a fuller body and bigger flavour on the finish. Dark Gold with a big head this beer has hops on the nose but produces more flavour in the malt department. I like the balance and could drink quite a few of these. Would maybe like to see a Belgian yeast used to give a more distinctive flavour but all in all a decent amber
