Pikake flowers contribute to the citrus, mango, grapefruit and floral notes of this Imperial IPA. The hops are balanced with a touch of malt in the body. Sit back on a beach and enjoy.

22oz bottle of batch 118 purchased at the Foodmart in Kapa'a. Light yellow color but the head was taking up 4/5ths of the glass even with a good pour, it also foamed up in the bottle which made me suspicious. Aroma was slightly tart and I feared the worst. Flavor was lemony and slightly bretty, I think this was infected.

A: The beer is hazy amber yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge and left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with hints of mango and pineapple.
T: The taste follows the smell but has stronger flavors of caramel malts with a moderate amount of bitterness. No alcohol is perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is maltier compared to other IPAs but has a nice amount of bitterness and hides its alcohol well.
Serving type: can

22oz bottle
Pours over two fingers of white head into my Nonic. Very dense and creamy. Retention is superb, almost the entire head remains after 5 minutes. Initial lacing looks phenomenal as well. Body is a deep orange, high clarity, with a lot of bubbles coming up. Looks fantastic so far.
The nose is good. Subtle orange and pineapple, a little floral, maybe a touch of spice. Smooth fruit, not citrusy. A little bready, and some sweetness, but definitely not too much which is nice for an 8% IPA. With substantial agitation and time, richer sugars, pineapple and floral notes come through; those sugars are not inappropriate. Overall pretty soft, with some fruity flavors, smells good.
Flavor is floral, with pineapple, and some bready notes. Pretty lively, it has a uniqueness to it. Not sure if this is quite as good as it is on draft, which really brings out the floral Pikake, but this is still nice.
The carbonation is about medium, and the beer feels very alive. Body has some weight to it, but it’s not too heavy. There is a little sweetness, but it is kept well in check, I wouldn’t call this a sweet beer. There is some substantial bitterness towards the end of the beer and into the finish. Very appropriate mouthfeel for a double, well balanced.
Drinkability is pretty nice here. A touch bitter, but not abrasive. Overall balanced and tasty.
Appearance turned out wonderful. Head lasted forever and finally settled into a small island of foam. Extremely thick sheets of lacing lined the glass.
Overall a very solid double IPA that is not too sweet, and has some unique flavors.

Batch 126 in a bomber from ABC in the Shops at Wailea. Really good locally brewed beer. Golden color with Hop haze. Medium head. Minimal aroma but great tropical taste.
