Poured from a bomber bottle ( 1 pint ) into a snifter glass. Brewed with ESB malt, rye malt, flaked wheat, fresh pine needles, and Belgian Saison yeast.

L - Golden yellow color, carbonation bubbles, thin sliced head

S - banana clove and Belgian spice esters. Getting some lemon and malt character as well.

T - Getting bits of pepper, clove, and more malty sweetness. Not heavy Belgian spice here at all.

M - light bodied, moderate carbonation, not super prickly, with a somewhat thicker mouthfeel (wheat build) with a surprising dry-ish finish.

O - I didn't get any pine from this particular beer at all. I was expecting some piney character, but mainly was a nice Belgian yeast profile with a malty backbone that came through with this one. I would say this is "not as advertised" but maybe the pine needles add to the entirety of the beer. Either way, it's refreshing and a nice beer to share. It's got a low ABV (4.5%) which makes it really drinkable. I enjoyed sampling some of their other beers at the mammoth brewing co headquarters and we decided to grab this bottle ( and Bacchus DNB porter ) which will post to review soon. From a micro brewery, I think these folks have some really quality beers.

A: Upfront yeast esters of banana and clove, coupled with a light fruitiness and spice aroma.

A: Pale yellow color, clear, with a moderately uneven white head that quickly recedes.

T: Moderate yeast esters of banana and clove, with a light fruitness and spice, with a clean malt body.

M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

O: Alright; definitely not what I was expecting from a saison, given the banana and clove estery aroma and flavor. However, the beer is quite drinkable and refreshing. Quite surprised this beer was brewed with any pine needles since there is no discernible piney quality.
