Notes: Welcome to the world of bright, citrus and tropical fruit forward IPA’s. This divinely hoppy brew will clock in at 83 IBUs and will pour a hazy golden color with a big white head. Aromas of lemon peel, tangerine, and passion fruit come through on the nose with some dank undertones. The flavor profile begins with an intense hop bitterness that is complimented by slightly sweet, caramel malt in the finish.

On tap at Meridian Pint in DC.

Hops: Citra, not sure what else

Been wanting to try this one for a while now, but what a disappointment. This beer is a mess and I really can't understand why anyone would rate this highly. Citra is such a great hop, but all of those delicious citrus, tropical fruit notes are taken over by this harsh medicinal quality. This beer was hard to finish. Over-hyped by the locals, I'm afraid.

Pours very limp. The can made no Chick-coo, nor even a little hiss. Looks hazy and minimally carbonated with nary a head to be seen.

Smells sweet. Clear citra hops (good) against off medicinal nodes (bad). The citra can blot out much, but not everything.

Tastes, sadly, as it smells. Citra up front, medicinal weirdness in the middle and back. Cough syrup nodes hang upon my tongue. It's not, like Minhas-level horrible. I can finish it. But it's not the sort of thing I would ever allow people to purchase.

Basically an okay homebrew. Not nearly worth what they charge.

Pounder can poured into a snifter. The brew appears a golden copper color with a white cap that fades leaving spotty lace.

Aroma is quite juicy with hops smelling tropical like pineapple and other assorted fruitiness like peaches and mango even. A faint herbal edge of grassy leafy hops and alcohol.

Taste has plenty of fruity hop flavor like pineapple, peach and mango giving it a solid tropical feel along with a solvent to fruity yeast/alcohol kick. There is a bit of residual sweetness though too thats bready to biscuit-like and caramelized sugars accenting the fruity nature of the hops.

This is medium in body with modest carbonation. A very fresh and inviting hoppy beer but man is it sweet. I personally never heard of this beer nor brewery but we stopped at a place called downtown crown in Gaithersburg enroute to DC and there was an endless stream of people attacking the coolers buying this. It was a scene out of what I imagine buying Heady Topper would be like up in the northeast. We inquired and were told this was their first canning and it was really something special. So we sprung for the $18 4-pack. Its a good brew dont get me wrong, I just dont think its that good.

16 oz can, dated 1/3/17, poured into a teku

A- A hazy burnt orangish color with a two finger white head.

S- Some tropical fruits, citrus, citrus rind, touch of alcohol and malts, a faint vegetable like aroma.

T- Citrus, tropcial fruits, a little dank, piney finish, touch a caramel malts.

M- Smooth, medium body.

O- A solid citra IIPA. Worth picking up.

This is sorta like a cross between NE-style IPS’s and a traditional DIPA. It has the look, with the super hazy grapefruit color, and the nose has the Citra hop aromas, but there’s also a boozy note.

The taste is centered on the Citra hop flavors, but the aforementioned boozy note is still present, and the mouthfeel is straight forward old-school DIPA. I’m really enjoying this, whatever category you place this in.

Canned on 4/25/16 (10 days old...new record for my area distributor). Kinda murky and dark orange. Small head. Smell is a citrus delight. I've had only a few others that beat this one in aroma but this is pretty darn top notch. Taste is extremely powerful on hop goodness but a really big malt background to balance and finishes extremely smooth and only a touch bitter. Touch of onion in the flavor but the citrus pretty much steals the show here. Mouthfeel is very rich and creamy for an IPA. Overall this is a stellar DIPA. Highly recommend.

This one is right up my alley. I am a big fan of Citra hops and this beer keeps the freshness of that hop in a pretty big beer. Very nice aroma also.

Canned 10/21 Reviewed 11/26 Poured into a standard pint glass.

L: A slightly hazes orange copper with a thin white head. That fades quickly and leaves no noticeable traces in the glass.

S: Orange rind, Orange juice. Grapefruit. A bit of resiny dankness.

T: Follows suit to the aroma but with a candied orange sweetness. Orange & lemon peel, with notes of tropical fruit. A slight medicinal flavor possibly attributed to the sweetness and alcohol content. Faint underlying caramel malt.

F: Low carbonation, slightly thin with a syrupy coating through the finish but drinks oh so smooth for 8.3%

O: A pretty solid DIPA. One that really gets sought out and sells out quickly upon release in MD.

Golden body with hints of orange. Slight haze and a fizzy off-white head on top. Aroma has some citrus and tropical fruit, along with a noticeable grassy note. Flavor is much of the same, citrus and tropical fruit being taken over by a very grassy, vegetal flavor. Almost how you would imagine a fresh hop bine would taste. This is not normally the flavor I get from Citra hops, so perhaps this is a blend, or they are slightly different due to being grown locally? Feel is very nice, medium-full bodied, very nice medium carbonation level. Overall this is an okay DIPA, but I do not think it has the traditional Citra hop flavor. Really drinkable though, but no where near worth the steep price tag.
