This unique seasonal comes out just in time to warm your soul on those chilly winter nights. We brewed this beer with a touch of Beechwood smoked malt for a smooth & subtle smokiness that we know you’ll enjoy all winter long.

Poured into a goblet-style Corsendonk glass.
Appearance is unremarkable but pretty, a sort of clear amber-ruby color. Smell is smoky and sweet, with strong caramel notes.
Taste is as its smell suggests; smoky and sweet with strong caramel notes. Hits the palate fast and hard, then stays put. It is a little heavy for me, but certainly not unpleasant. Then again, I do prefer malty-sweet beers lately. I'm missing the cereal taste of the grains, it gets overshadowed by the big flavors. Mouthfeel is smooth and a bit heavy or sticky.
I'm not big into smoke flavors, so I wasn't super into this one. It doesn't strike me as one that I'd like to drink all night, but I think it could complement savory, meat-based meals very well. I picture it with roast chicken, meatloaf, or sausages.

Beer of the month club twist off 12 oz. bottle. Pours deep amber with small white head. Smells like a cheap sweet amber ale. Flavor is sweet brown sugar with a bit of fruit and a dirty finish that makes what would otherwise be a nice drinking beer slightly unpleasant. Finished a bit better as I go through it. Medium light mouthfeel, medium carbonation. Easy going for 8%. Not a terrible beer, but not getting much scotch ale from this. Taste is similar to a Killians with more body and more sweetness.
