From BeerAdvocate Magazine #74 (Mar 2013):

An amped-up IPA for sure, bordering on the Double IPA style with the strength of alcohol, plus a near blistering hop bitterness. Brewed with Chinook, Motueka from New Zealand and Bravo hops, which all makes for an aggressive but unique, or at least different, hop character. Worth the hunt for all of the hopheads out there.

STYLE: American IPA
ABV: 7.5%
AVAILABILITY: Year-round

LOOK: Clear bubbly amber, solid lacing

SMELL: Ruby red grapefruit, piney, mild tobacco, juicy, cake batter, Grape-Nuts, alcohol, lime leaves

TASTE: Very smooth, pungent, resin, tobacco, grapefruit rind, peppery alcohol, mango, bitterness, biscuity grain, dried grass, spicy, husky, lime pith, warming; hoppy, bitter finish

Poured into DFH IPA glass; translucent, light orange-yellow with a moderate white head that fades into a lovely ring of foam that leaves incredibly fine lacing rings.
Smell is dank herbal hops, some tropical fruit and citrus, hint of pine and bitterness.
Taste is bitter, piney and herbal. No fruity hops detected, despite the fruity nose. Hint of bitter citrus rind perhaps, but that's about it. Hops destroy any malt flavor as well. Finishes dry with lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is minimal, smooth and dry.
Overall, not the kind of IPA I'm a fan of. It's all bitterness, not much actual flavor. Not bad if that's your kind of IPA though.

Ba Review #281
Served On: 07/22/2013
Glassware: Tumbler Pint
Labeled ABV: 7.5%
Date/ Code: 05/17/13

This was one from a sixer I found at Dewey Beach Liquors while on summer vacation at costal Delaware.

Look: Color was a hazy golden color with some deeper tones in the middle. The head was a fluffy 2-fingers of beige foam that stuck around for the duration. Lacing was vry sticky and spotty. Carbonation bubbles were even and throughout.

Smell: Aroma was of grassy hops and a sweet honey malt character.

Taste: The taste proved to be a very light palate from what the brewer's specs suggest (75 IBU's and 7.5% abv). Honestly I was expecting a level of complexity found more in a Double IPA. First off was a light kiss of herbal hops. Then a sweet malty resin hit just for a moment.
Then the high IBU's managed to appear to basically form the finish and aftertaste.

This was a solid brew that followed the drinkable approach found in Fordham offerings. I would grab this again.
