My rating is as follows: Look: looks like a pale ale. Smell: not very hoppy Taste: tastes like a poor version of a regular IPA. Feel: mouth feel of a regular IPA Overall: Anyone who has drank IPA's for 20 years, as I have would rate this the same. Also, I would not recommend any of the beers brewed at the Levity Brewing Co. in Indiana, PA.

NOTICE: Luke McKelvey, one of the owners, rated this "ale" with a score of 5 out of 5. His rating of his own beer, without making it known, is dishonest, at the very minimum.

This double IPA feels a little thicker than most, its full-bodied consistency matched with a strong, hoppy flavor that's somewhat reminiscent of pine. It might not look as impressive as it tastes, but its haze is beautiful in the shadows.

Tap

Pours a slightly hazy amber orange. White film for a head.

Smells of honey, bready malts, and fresh orange citrus.

Flavor is biscuit malt, orange blossom honey, fresh orange citrus and zest, with bright floral and grapefruit hops throughout.

Full body with stinging carbonon the tongue. Slight alcohol warmth.

Very flavorful and aromatic dipa. Really nothing bad about this beer at all, and the flavor is so bright and fruity. Top notch, definitely try this if you can.

12oz pour into a goblet at the brewery this past Friday.

medium gold, nearly clear body. nice bright white head leaving good lacing.

not much going on in the aroma department, faintly hoppy and citrus.

good balance to this one, citrus hops and a very solid malt background.

Above medium on the mouth, slightly bitter on the finish.

Overall, and above average DIPA. Enjoyable. Feels less than the listed abv, so drinker beware.

Appearance is cloudy burnt orange. Minimal but persistent off white head leaves plenty of sticky lacing. Aroma is subdued but pine and generic citrus. Taste is bitter citrus peel with a bitter, lingering aftertaste. Not a fan.

There is no accounting for taste, I suppose. One reviewer really took a disliking to this. Well, I have been drinking IPAs for well over 20 years. I was drinking Bell's Two Hearted Ale back in the 90's when Oberon was still Solsun and the Two Hearted label wasn't fish. This is beer is my introduction to Levity Brewing. For me it was a good one. What this DIPA has that not a lot of others have is balance. Every element compliments and blends seamlessly with each other. It is beautiful to look at. Cloudy and light amber. The smell is mild but so enticing, I'm not searching for adjectives. Just grooving on an excellent IPA aroma. Hoppy hand in hand with malt. Wow, this hides its 9.3% ABV well. dangerously slips down like a pale ale. A little more bitter. but even the bitterness is smooth. Feel is exactly what one should expect. If the owner wants to rate it a 5, I won't begrudge him that. If I made this, I'd be pretty proud. But I didn't I drank it. And I feel pretty lucky I had the opportunity. I drank this out of my Garre glass while listening to Can's album "Ege Bamyasi". I highly recommend it.

A big double IPA. Definitely has some Simcoe and Centennial in it (lots and lots). Drinks way too easily for a beer that's 9.3% (most recent batch @ 7/11/16). They serve it in a 13oz Belgian glass. That's about the right amount. A little hazy, good head and carbonation. Super hopped and aromatic, but dry enough that the bitterness doesn't "stick" and overpower.

9.50% ABV according to the bottle and it hides the alcohol decently well. Hop aromas and flavors of pine and grapefruit peel and you can taste the 95 IBU's since (thankfully) the beer doesn't have a cloying sweetness like many DIPA's. In my opinion, this is an above-average but not great West Coast DIPA.

22oz bottle served in a big snifter. I don't see a date, but the label says 9.3% ABV, versus the 8.5% listed here on BA. I think it was given to me by @mr-jj.

Pours a light amber color. Small head. Not much carbonation. Smell is piney, primarily. A little honeysuckle.

Taste is kind of a ragweed (at least that's what it makes me think of). Lots of pine flavor, though.

Mouthfeel is a little too still, kind of sticky. Overall, not bad, but not impressive.
