I had this one at the Bitter Creek in downtown Boise. Glad to see them feature some local brewpub beers. Attractively priced at $2.50 per pint for happy hour!

Served in a strange, the beer is dark brown with ruby highlights. There is brown head with sticky lacing.

The nose is of lightly roasted grains and a bit of cocoa.

Nice balance between dark roasted malts and some back end bitterness. Bakers chocolate and some apple round out the taste.

The mouth is pleasant with mid level carbonation a touch of heft.

Well done!

Served in a mug at the Ram in Meridian ID.

This beer appears brown with tons of red and gold highlights. Tight one finger of off-white head.

Smells of roasted grains and a whiff of coffee, slightly metallic and bitter.

On the tongue its close to the nose, with a touch of chocolate as well. Definitely malt forward, with a little hop presence in the bitterness. I found myself liking this beer, with the light roasted malt presence, a lot more than I thought I would.

Has a coffee-like aftertaste and quality. The carbonation is a nice touch. Fairly drinkable, and overall a pleasant suprise.
