One line review of this in Japanese would be "ちょっとクセの強いセゾン". When I think of "Saison" I usually think of something wheaty with a hint of coriander and white pepper in the back, usually accompanied by tons of carbonation, drunk as a refreshing heat-chaser on a hot summer day.
Ichigo Ichie, however, is a little different. Think of all the stereotypical flavors that one thinks of when imagining a saison, but on steroids with an uncharacteristically hop forward element to it, and you're in the ball park of what this brew tastes like.
A massive blast of banana, cloves, leather, and white pepper straight off the bat. Spots of earthy herbal notes from the Southern hemisphere hops shine through, joined by orange peel citrus and biscuity malts.
Citrus surprisingly comprises the main flavor profile, joined by spicy herbal and white pepper notes. The ostentatious primary flavors are balanced by the more subtle biscuity malts, and a nice well-rounded bitterness toward the end.
A more substantial body than what one would normally expect from a saison, with subdued carbonation. Not sure I'd qualify this as a saison, but still a great easy-drinking brew nonetheless.

There is a very nice spiciness to this saison. It is made with American and New Zealand hops, and this comes through in the bitter back notes. There is also a pleasant kind of strawberry sweetness in the smell and on the sides of the tongue when drinking. I like this saison a lot as a starter for the night.
