I find Euro Strong Lager to be a disgusting beer style, and I'm not quite sure why I'm even bothering. With that said, and part of it is due to this rather low ABV for the style, but this is a quite drinkable beer. My plaudits end there. This is merely a drinkable beer as a result of it's light mouthfeel and the sweetness which counteracts the alcohol.

Mariestads Old Ox

Klass III Lager Öl

Poured from a can into a 0,3L Frankenheim Alt Rastal Tumbler

A: Translucent straw yellow color. No head. No lacing. Fairly carbonated.

S: Malty notes of bread, caramel and a hint of orange.

T: Bread. Honey. A touch of orange on the finish.

M: Fairly carbonated and not not as thin as expected.

O: . For 6.9% there's not too much alcohol present. It's a bit sweet for me to drink multiple, but not a bad euro lager given there's more flavor and body than your typical swill.

A little more pressure and taste in this beer compared to the normal Mariestads Export, probably because of the alcohol content. The beer has a nice appearance and aroma in addition

I have drunk tastier beers than this, but still pretty good for a pretty normal Swedish pilsner.

A standard 50 cl short-necked brown bottle. The label is in navy-blue and red with the writing in white.

A: The color is golden with lots of small bubbles in the liquid. The enromous white head is a bit uneven and airy but doesn't dissipate to fast. Some lacings.

S: Sweet malt and bitter hops. Corn? The alcohol is present in the smell.

T: Creamy malt, slightly sweet. Faint bitter hops.

M: The aftertaste is kind of discrete, but stays for some time holding a mild bitterness. Body is medium, smooth and carbonation is medium to strong.

D: Probably the best Euro Strong Lager I've ever had, but the Style is kind of weak. If you want to try this style I suggest you try this beer.

The beer is clear gold, a white head that leaves some lacing.

The smell is rather clean, a bit septic. A whiff of malty sugar.

The taste is surprisingly sweet, light syrup and digestive biscuits, it is balanced with some bitterness that stays well. The alcohol is noted.

Medium carbonated, a bit dry in the finish.

A rather straight down-to-the-business strong lager. Works well with a standard western cuisine.

The colour is medium gold; the firm two finger head is airy and white. Some lacing occurs.

The smell is sweet and malty with some alcohol, almonds, some bitterness and a slight hint of wet paper.

The taste is fresh and malty with some neutral bitter flavours, lightly roasted hints of boiled meat, minerals and a touch of sweet almonds. Medium body. The aftertaste got a slowly growing bitterness, some salty beef stock and a hint of alcohol.

The carbonation is medium strong, the small bubbles are fresh. The liquid is smooth.

Well. If you by any reason want to drink a strong euro lager (our version of the American malt liquors), this is one of the better with not-that-much slight chemical flavours.
