The brew is clear, pale, very pale, straw, has a white high slightly uneven head that settles rather quickly leaving little lacing.

The smell is slightly chemical, battery acid with nettles.

Starting sweet, corn flakes, then some lemonade - very vague, a small bitter finish.

Low carbonation, watery feeling, thin body.

Nope, this will not be my favorite summer beer 2011. Or any other year.

Halmstad Sommar Lager, ABV: 4.7%.
330 ml bottle, 11.90 SEK at Systembolaget.

A: Pale, yellow, almost staw-coloured, clear liquid, with a lot of bubbles, and a light, white head.

S: Rather fresh aroma of malt, citrus (perhaps some artificial lemon), and hints of flowers.

T: Bread and citrus are the first things that comes to mind, and here are even some notes of grass and vegetables.

M: Light to medium body, some bitterness, and quite sticky carbonation. The aftertaste actually feels citrus-y.

O: A light summer lager where the citrus is present from nose to mouth, OK for hot and thirsty days in the sun, which I suppose is the purpose. But this beer isn't really for me.

A: Pours pale golden, almost straw-colored (a funny thing is that Halmstad in Swedish means "Town of Straw"). The soapy white head is small and sinks quickly into only little lacings.

S: Lots of corn in the sweet malt. Some citric notes, but faint. Arthificial.

T: Sweet malt, with only a hint of corn. Some bitterhops and some faint floral hops gives it citric notes.

M: Aftertaste is surprisingly long and bitter, not bad at all. Body is thin, while the carbonation is mild.

O: Quite uneven, the taste is decent as is the aftertaste. The smell and the apperance is weak.

The colour is straw yellow; the liquid is clear. The three finger head is white and compact. Some lacing occurs.

The smell is sweet with mild bitter metallic flavours. Hints of leather and an artificial fruity elderflower flavour.

The taste is wishy-washy with some hints of French loaf. Sweet candy-like flavours of elederflower and mixed exotisk fruits. The aftertaste is mild with weak hints of bitterness and fruit esters.

The carbonation is medium; the bubbles are fresh yet short. The liquid is light.

Well... Next beer, please!
