This is a really well done IIPA... Huge hops and nice tropical fruits but balances out nicely with good malts and 101 IBU.

Reminds me of a Monkish IPA I had recently except it's much clearer, but still has the feel of the more hazy, unfiltered IPAs.

Cloudy golden color ..white head. Hoppy smells of ripe tropical fruits. Taste starts juicy and finishes bitter but not overly dry. No booze bite or heat for a DIPA. Well worth it and will buy again.

Thanks Steve (my Midwest guy).
This was poured into a tulip.
The appearance was a murky/cloudy orange color with a nice semi-lasting finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a mild pace. Nice semi-sticky speckled lace ran around the glass somewhat nice.
The aroma had a really nice conglomeration of the grapefruit pulp, orange pulp and mango flesh coming all together to cling to a nice smooth caramel malt backbone. Light white cracker/biscuit-like tones further underneath like an old school DIPA.
The flavor was moderately sweet and doing a decent job of pulling into the hops to embitter and balance it out. Touch of white pepper seemed to want to play ever so slightly in the background. Mild aftertaste of the grapefruit/mango seemed to be punching holes in the malt backbone as the malts seem to be pushed back a bit.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied. Seemed to be between a semi-sessionable to sipping sort of quality about it, but I think that may be due to it's age. Carbonation did feel good. ABV felt just a touch under.
Overall, only now I'm going to say that this is an aged review, only because often times, when people see "aged" review at the top for a DIPA, they'll quickly turn away, however, the numbers I'm giving this, I hope people understand that those "old school" styled/Midwest DIPA's can do a decent service to the overall "DIPA" itself. Oh yeah, by the way, the date is "MFG 2/03/2017." Thanks for reading this far.

L: pours with a minimal head that dissipates to minimal carbonation on the surface. An unfiltered straw hay + orange appearance with very
light carbonation - let’s you know it’s high ABV before smelling or drinking

S: smell is pleasant - it’s piney and tropical fruit at the same time. The sweetness in scent once agaIn let’s you know this is a big beer.

T: I went in to this hesitant as the look and smell warned me I’m drinking a big beer. This was much smoother than expected. A nice west coast DIPA bite on the finish.

F: This is one oily, viscous beer. The looks gave it away as it had minimal lacking but what was there was sticky. This attribute makes it an easy beer to drink as it could slide down your throat without realizing what your drinking.

O: this is a great DIPA. It’s piney, tropical, oily with a sweet malt bill. It’s just 2 weeks old and fresh as could ask for. I will buy this at least once per year for as long as they brew it.
