this is a really cool beer, my first from these guys, shared by new friends. its tasty stuff, definitely desserty and sweet, but its delicious and actually does taste like french toast. i love the packaging on it, arty and cool. the beer is near black and quite thick and viscous in the glass, deep brown head on it nice and dense as well, good retention, and an aroma that fills the room! its sweet maple all the way, with some vanilla richness to it, a licorice tone to the dark grain, some sturdy coffee character, and even an almost eggy and bready thing to it, i fully buy the french toast theme here. it tastes just like it smells, way more residual sugar than it needs, and this isnt a have a couple kind of beer to me at this level, but if thats whats required to taste all this maple, im about it. plenty of dark cocoa to this, vanilla, even a lightly burnt aspect which does balance this a bit. very much tastes like real french toast, which is rad. feels smooth and weighty, the oats making their presence known here, real nice to hold up all this flavor. overall a fun and delicious drink that really does what it says its going to do, even if some could call this over flavored. looking forward to finding more from these guys, they seem ambitious and competent. i love discovering new beer like this, and id love to try the barrel aged version!

Thanks for this Sunday morning breakfast drink, superspak.
Received in NBS BIF #8.
Pours a profoundly dark roil of brown. Firm pour pushes a confident mocha cap 2+ fingers high. Solid retention. Slowly retreats to a damn respectable, "I'm staying here!" half an inch, milky head.
Straight up glory in the nose. Good Morning, French toast! Maple syrup hitting crispy edged, slightly caramelized, cinnamon-heavy battered French toast. A light hint of vanilla, some cocoa notes, caramel and the smoothest roast, all waft from the glass. Rarely have I beheld such a spot on aroma, that was also soon tempting.
Taste follows faithfully. Although, I dare say it's damn near impossible to follow that nose. The cinnamon is present but tame. The maple definitely stays along for the whole ride, but is not cloying. Hints of vanilla come through and tame the roast notes that peek in just a tad. Sweet notes that make an appearance in the background of the maple syrup are caramel, toffee, and dark chocolate. The vanilla comes through at the end as well, almost gives it a drying out note, in the direction of metallic.
Mouthfeel is full and creamy. Very subtle, almost absent alcohol heat adds a nice extra. Carbonation is light.
Overall, I would love this on a regular basis. Here is where I am reticent to make any suggestions on such a fine beer. But, I love the nose almost as much as my kids, and if the flavor could follow just a tad more faithfully with lighter vanilla I MIGHT like it a smidge more. Having said that (humbly), I LOVE this one.

This was a really fun and unique beer. It smells and tastes like if French Toast Crunch was magically turned into a delicious Stout beer. It has a fun bottle and pours nearly black. No light passes through this one.

The smell and taste are strong with maple and cinnamon, but with noticeable flavors of vanilla and a medium bodied coffee as well. The flavors were very natural with no artificial aftertastes or anything like that. I really enjoyed this, and for the price ($9 for a 6 pack, granted I live a mile from the brewery, so it may be more elsewhere) it would be hard to find a better Stout.

It's very rich and you're probably not drinking another beer after this one. Pair it with something savory, but not too much as the beer is practically a meal in and if itself, but if you like a flavorful beer and are a fan of maple and cinnamon, this one is for you.

A - Dark brown color pour with a dense toffee lacing ring.

S - Bready, maple syrup, vanilla ... yep, smells like French Toast.

T - Nice chocolate roast from start to finish, maple, delicate char, and ends with a lingering char bitterness underneath roasted chocolate and slight coffee.

M - Heavy, thick, and chewy body almost like a light syrup body and lip smacking sticky.

O - This is a fantastic oatmeal stout that hits the mark. Recommended.

Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned on 8/27/18. Pours a very attractive near pitch black with a solid finger plus light brown head that leaves spotty lace. 4

Smell is a huge hit of maple syrup, vanilla, coffee grounds, and maybe a little cinnamon. 4.25

Taste once again the maple syrup is the star, really dominant but vanilla, expresso, and cinnamon lend a hand, one dimensional but tasty. 4.25

Mouthfeel is a little bigger than medium, gentle carbonation, actually not very dry, and exceptional drinkability at 8.3%. 4

Overall this a tasty and well crafted beer, if you like maple syrup you will love it. 4

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 8/27/2018. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, peppery hops; roast/char bitterness; and cinnamon spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, maple syrup, cinnamon, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, nutmeg, vanilla, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet and spiciness balance; with minimal acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitter/spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky/bready, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.3%. Overall this is a fantastic spiced imperial oatmeal stout. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, maple syrup, spices, and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/spicy/drying finish. Would have preferred the bitterness toned down to be more dessert-like. Great balance of rich malts, maple syrup, spices, and earthy hops. A highly enjoyable offering, and great base style example as expected. Nearly identical to the Pigeon Hill YMOFT at a lower ABV.

Served at the brewery in a 12 oz tulip.
Pour is very dark with a short khaki head and good lacing.
Smell is delicious maple syrup and cinnamon.
Taste is milky and definitely French toast as advertised.
Feel is smooth with a bit of a bite on the back end, but it hides the alcohol well.
Overall this is a delicious dessert beer.

L - 2-finger fluffy hazelnut head atop a black body.

S - oh my. Tons of maple, vanilla, brown sugar.

T - maple city. This really does taste like french toast. Good (non-artificially sweetened) maple syrup, vanilla bean, chocolate, a hint of coffee, oats. Very smooth and devoid of alcohol burn. Low bitterness. Moderate-low sweetness. No booziness.

F - medium, very creamy body with appropriate carb.

O - this is a winner.
