Worth visiting for the ambiance alone, and the beer is pretty good too.

Yes, it's another brewery in a warehouse, but Roak has some of the most interesting d├ęcor that we've seen. The ceilings inside are very high, and a HUGE chandelier hangs down, dominating the front half of the tap room. On the wall behind the bar is some sculpted glass thing that extends all the way to the ceiling.

We only stopped in for drinks on a moderately busy Saturday evening. Service was fine and prices were very reasonable. We did not sample any of the food, but given that many people around us were only eating (and not drinking beer), we have to assume the food is good too.

Stopped by on a night of hopping around Royal Oak pubs, finally. I've been meaning to get here for a year. Outside is an almost-unassuming warehouse vibe with a winding cement ramp to the door. Inside is a - very - high ceilinged space mostly taken by tables and chairs. In the middle back is a horseshoe bar with seating for ten on each of three sides. Long, Edison-style bulbs hang from thin wires and a great and elegant chandelier dominates the room. On each side of the bar, high on the walls hang Devil Dog banners, behind the bar, soaring from just above the taps to the ceiling is a sculpture of glass and light that resembles lava flowing down an onyx spire.
The room is at three quarter capacity, and even with quite a few people and several college games on the TVs, it's sedate enough to have conversations with fellow drinkers and the pub tenders.
Nice selection of foods, and more that enough of a variety of taps available to please any palate. I've been impressed with Roak's bottled selections, so it's good to finally find that the pub only options are just as good.

Pretty modern, sleek interior, with a chandelier big enough for an area 5 times the size of the pub. Mixed crowd, suits and casual attired customers. Our server, Jefferson, was a great guy to talk beer with. The beers we tried were decent, average or slightly above. Food was very good. Prices were typical for the area. Worth a stop.

This was my favorite Royal Oal brewery during a day of bar hopping around town.

It's a different feel than your typical brewery, but nice and clean if somewhat sterile.

Lots of beer styles to choose from, and most were very good. Highlights were the Barrel Aged Kashmir and Blow Your Face Off

Wow.....this was a gem find! Tucked away in Royal Oak, MI. There is a very small bar area that had modern tables and chairs with a nice bar. The quality of the beer and food was excellent. The service was very pleasant and interested to talk about the beer. There is plenty on tap to choose from....the food menu is a bit limited. The PIZZA was absolutely amazing!

I have been to Roak twice now. The decor and vibe is definitely not what I prefer at a brewery -- laid back a bit rustic, but is very nice, almost 'club-ish'. Service was decent and the pizza was good. Menu is pretty basic - pizza, paninis, salads, a few appetizers. As for the beer, nothing really stood out. The flights are $13.50 for (6) 4 oz. pours. but nothing left me wanting a full pour. Every pale and ipa that I had seemed to have a touch of belgian yeast taste. Being very new, I am hoping the beer improves over time. The grower prices seemed high too - I believe $16 for 64oz of most brews.
