Notes: Believe it. J. Wakefield Brewing has taken its talents to Anaheim to collaborate on a winning recipe with Bruery Terreux. While the distance from Miami to Anaheim could seem fairly restricting, the decision to brew an imperial Berliener Weisse was low hanging fruit. And of fruits in this beer, which are representative of our hometown cultures and favorite flavors, there are many - including dragonfruit, passion fruit, lime juice and Minneola tangerines. It’s a tart, tropical combination that gives your palate the best opportunity to win.

Appearance is a hazy ruby red and poured with a half finger of bubbly pink head. Head receded into a thin ring very quickly.

Aroma is all tart exotic fruit with some citrus lingering.

Taste follows nose. Huge tart exotic fruits and some lingering citrus like lemon/grapefruit.

Feel is crisp and somehow finishes slightly dry while being incredibly juicy.

Overall a fantastic fruited Berliner. My first from the Bruery and JWB. Love it!

this is a cool beer, i like a berliner with this much flavor being a little stronger, although i suppose its no more wheat malty than any normal berliner, it just has a bit more structure to it, which i think all the fruit demands. this is very wakefield too in my experience, their fruited stuff is so over the top, and this one certainly is too. it looks like the juice in the pickled beet jar, deeply purple, neon, almost unnatural, obviously the dragonfruit. the aroma is clean citrusy lacto sourness, limey for sure, i get that right away in nose and taste, zesty and clean, but then its also sweet from the fruit. dragonfruit flavor is there giving it a fruit punch vibe, the passion fruit is behind that, perhaps lost a little bit to the tartness, it doesnt jump out at me. the orange element is even further back, but nice with the lime and the acid, and coming out more as this warms up a little bit. not too sour to drink a good amount of, and really pretty tidy in that regard. tons of fruit, you have to like that sort of thing, but this is well made beer, intense in a good way, and one i really enjoyed. always nice when a collaboration lives up the quality of the beers made independently by its participants, and this one did!

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a slightly cloudy golden orange beer which is topped by a finger and a half of dense and slightly rocky white head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of tons of tropical fruit notes with some dragonfruit, passionfruit, tangerines, and lime along with some background acidity.
T: Taste is dragonfruit up front followed by some nice building sourness, hints of passionfruit limes and tangerines with some hints of creamy wheat. On the swallow there's more dragonfruit, passionfruit, tangerine and lime with more sourness along with some lingering tasty wheat notes.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of things but it keeps from coming across watery. Carbonation is effervescent and pleasant while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is a really nice beer. Solid flavors along with a nice amount of complexity make this an interesting beer to drink. Just a great and well rounded fruited sour beer.

Pink head. Raspberry color.

A massive tropical fruit attack. Not sure I could pick out all the fruits, but they are all there. Sour and tart.

Light bodied. Easy to drink.

One of the first bruery beers I've enjoyed in a while. Thanks Wakefield.

Mouth is med to lighter bod, a decent carb, little tartness, mild flemmy

750 mL bottle. Deep pink body. Smells of passion fruit and lime acidity. Tastes intensely sour. Strong passion fruit sourness. Lime. A little bit of green vegetal flavor, but it's fleeting. Really sour, but medium light bodied. Far too sour to be drinkable.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a crystal clear ruby hue with a thin white head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of good passion fruit and dragon fruit, light orange and lime juice, nice tartness.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice light tropical fruits, good lime citrus notes. Bright oranges as well. Very nice tartness.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, solid flemmy finish.

O - Overall this was a very solid Berliner with pleasant fruit notes. Would like the tropical aspect to be a bit more prominent.

750ml bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours a bright ruby color with a one-finger foamy white head that has decent retention

S- tart and fruit with plenty of tropical fruit notes; passionfruit and a hint of citrus. Undertones of wheat and a lacto tartness

T- tropical fruit tartness up front gives notes of passionfruit and dragonfruit, as well as some citric acidic notes of tangerine and lime. Mid-palate brings out a lacto tartness that enhances the fruit notes. The finish is dry and lingers of tangerine and wheat

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a spritzy mouthfeel and a tart dry finish

O- outstanding tropical fruit notes throughout and remarkably drinkable, delicious

750mL bottle acquired through The Bruery’s Society. Bottled 3/13/17. Served in a Bruery snifter. Enjoyed 1/31/18.

Pours a vibrant, opaque hot pink with a little over two fingers of pink head. The pastel bubbles fade, leaving some surface wisps and a fairly consistent thin band but no lacing.

The nose is lively and tart. Bright tropical fruit, lime, sour wheat and citrus.

Powerfully sour flavors, beginning with a distinctive note of what I assume to be seedy dragon fruit followed by lime, oranges, kiwi, passion fruit, stale wheat and some vague earthy yeast. Excellent fruit notes with a potent zing.

Medium body with an occasional almost graininess and zesty carbonation. The tart aftertaste continues to burst with tropical and citrus fruit.

Here’s a brew that can be added to the relatively short list of collaboration successes. Great work from The Bruery and J Wakefield and perhaps the most flavorful Berliner I’ve tried. Certainly one I’d grab again if they decided to make more.
