Notes / Commercial Description:
This is a rosé - and a gose - by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish match of a funky, crisp and tart gose with the soft sweetness of a rosé wine. The refreshing wheat-based beer begins with some of the qualities you’d expect from a gose, including coriander spicing and a light saltiness to complement the tartness imparted by our house cultures. But the story doesn’t end there - it builds in complexity, thanks to time spent in an oak foeder and the addition of grapes, which impart a refreshing rosé character and color. It’s a charming interpretation that says all the right things, but it’s not as sweet as you.

Split with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear slight berry juice with a one finger head that fades to leave light wisps.

S - Aromas of light grape skins and juice, faint wheat along with a little salt.

T - Taste is similar to the nose with nice grape skin and juice. Nice creamy wheat with light coriander.

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, good crispness. Little flemmy.

O - Overall this was a solid enough gose, however, the grapes are a little subdued.

Split with rudzud

Light fluffy pillowy head, fades semi quickly, slight hazy sunset orange yellow color

Nose creamy doughy wheat, raw dough toasted grain, cereal, yeasty dough, a hint of salt and tartness

Taste a little creamy doughy wheat, toasted grain cereal, fruity pebble cereal like, tart lemony flemmy acidic, a tart cranberry flemmy like fruit, hint of salt and spice

Mouth is very tart flemmy acidic, decent fluffy carb

Overall not bad, but nothing really special

Had on tap. Pours clear reddish brown in color with minimal head. Taste is white grape and sour mix. Delicate, light bodied, light sour. Really good sour.

On tap at Morris Tap And Grill in Randolph. Pours a pink effervescent hue with minimal frothing. Mellow aroma replete with hints of citrus roses. Similar overall flavor profile.

Light red in color with about a thumb of head.

Smell is salty, sour and there is coriander and some fruit present as well.

Taste is tart and acidic. It takes a few sips to feel the Gose base. Salty, coriander and you can really taste the raspberry too.

Feel is light with fine prickly carbonation. Very dry finish.

A nice beer. I enjoyed this quite a bit and would happily revisit it.

Light to ruby red in color with no head and excellent clarity. The aroma is of pale wheat, salt, coriander, and green grapes. I'm tasting green grapes, pale wheat, and salt. This is nowhere near as salty or tart as many other examples. The mouth is moderately carbonated, crisp, and refreshing.

i thought this beer was awesome! a neat idea to include the wine grapes in a gose, and the base beer, even without the grapes, seems right on for the style to me. it has a clearish pour, stained pretty red from the grape skins, but without much head from the tap. aroma is great, sharp lacto sourness, some minerals from the salt, earthy and grounded, and some bright lemon too, light wine, and a little sweetness too. the flavor is even better through, you can taste the grapes way more than you can smell them in this one, tart and tangy with the acidity for a moment, then sweet, then layered with berry and cherry notes, like a complex red wine itself! there is some serious sour in here, and some heavy handed salt, both of which i dig, and both i think bring out the best of the grapes and extend the fruit quite a lot too. the oak is awesome, tannic and fresh, light vanilla to it, and some funk, which is cool in the style. the fruit is clean in the finish, aided again by the salt, and the pucker keeps coming even after the swallow. there is quite a lot going on here, and perhaps its too acidic to drink a lot of, but the flavors are outstanding, the inclusion of the grapes is brilliant and well executed, and the bruery does it again!
