Pours clear, amber in color with half inch head. Taste is toasted malt, big caramel, and grain. Medium-light bodied, moderate carbonation, and sweet. Maybe not the most complex beer but very tasty. This is one I could see myself throwing back several of because it is so exceptionally smooth. I will get this one again.

2SP Brewing Co. "DELCO Lager"
12 fl. oz. can without packaging codes or freshness dating
$2 @ Shop Rite, 2800 Fox Street, Philadelphia, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: Pours a slightly hazy orange/copper colored body beneath a finger thick head of white that holds fairly well but then eventually drops to nothing more than a standard collar. Hopefully there will be some lacing left behind as I drink it. The aroma is malty with a hint of mineral, some light caramel, some light fruit, and brightly floral hops. The flavor has a touch of tartness to it, and the fruitiness combines with what seems like almost burnt sugar rather than caramel. I'm not sure if they're using it, but it's reminiscent of Vienna malt to me. The floral character remains along with a little bit of spiciness and some background herbal notes, and lingers in the finish with a dollop of the sugary malt. It's nicely balanced by a firm bitterness though, and finishes mostly dry. Medium-light in body and crisp.

I was unaware of this brewery until the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, gave me this beer. I haven't lived in Delco since the 90's, but still have fond (mostly) memories of growing up in Chester. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, light grains. Taste is bready malts, caramel, smooth and highly refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good beer that I could easily consume several of.

Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Deep copper amber brown wit a touch of brass gold edged hue for the body color. Fluffy toped white head, easy three fingers on the pour, with a small settling crown. Looks like a good solid looking marzen.

Aroma continues a nice trend. Small amounts of toast and fine like sugar caramel like malt. Hints slightly roast but not burnt too. Clean presence with soft hint of herbal possible hop. Very nice.

Palate comes a little less exciting. Wet bodied and powdery like tasting malts. Clean but touches of mild caramel but with a sticky yeast and pasty mouthfeel. Not a lot of malt depth going on here, maybe a bit of wet and water chocolate perhaps.

Hinted like it was the Yuengling killer but not living up to the expectation's either.

The clear golden copper colored beer is served in a shaker pint with a 1/4" white head that soon recedes to leave a bit of scattered lacing on the sides. Sipping creates several patches of lacing that soon slide back to the liquid.

The aroma includes some nice bready malt backed up by a touch of slightly herbal hops.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with some bready malt sweetness against the background of herbal hops that help to dry out the sweetness for the ending.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the bready malt sweetness begins to recede and eventually leave the lightly bitter hops to close out the show.

On the whole a decent lager for occasional consumption or if one is looking for a beer that can comfortably served at a party on the porch with a mixed group of guests. But that said I don't find it particularly outstanding in any way. So I'll probably not repeat it every often.

12 oz can poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance
Golden amber with 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Good clarity with moderate carbonation.

Nose
Caramel, bread, and soap.

Taste
Caramel and bread. Luckily the soapiness is lost on the flavor. No real hop presence other than helping to keep some balance.

Mouthfeel
Medium-light bodied, crisp, slick, and sweet.

Overall
A very simple malt forward Amber Lager. A tad on the sweet side and could use a little more balance. For a 4% Lager is surely tastes stronger than it is, and that's not a good thing.

Pours a copper color with off white foam which dissipates quickly. A little caramel on the nose. Taste is caramel with a hint of breadiness. This leads to a touch of lime and subtle hop finish. Smooth and refreshing.
I would have a tough time telling this from Dos Equis Amber.

12 oz can

Clear copper amber colored, not much head. Slighlty sweet biscuit malt aroma. Taste is similar, not really any hops detected. Thin tob medium bodied.

Amber color visible carbonated, head disappears quickly. Taste earthy caramel and creamy, decent body even though small beer. Nice all day drinking lager 4.0%. You would expect this beer to be very thin on the finish and is not. As this beer warms up the flavors really balance out. The cold hides the subtle flavors of this small beer. Not one of my favorite styles but this beer is done very well.
