Since I'm not an IPA or ale drinker to any degree, American style lagers are my preference. This new beer brewed about 20 miles from my house was a revelation as most local craft brews like Victory (around the corner) tend to focus on the aforementioned bitter beers and even their lager is on the strong side. So, for me, Delco Lager hit the mark. A typical amber glow reminiscent of many customary American amber lagers, there is a mild caramel and mild herbal note to the beer which is not overly carbonated and, at least from the colorful can, does not produce an abundant head. The beer is generally light and mild and can be described as an all day drinker's delight at 4.0% and produces no discernable aftertaste. While it's not inexpensive (around $40 at retail for a 24-pack of cans- or $5.50 in a can at a taproom not too far from the brewery), or easy to find, for me it is worth going out of my way to pick up.

I was unaware of this brewery until the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, gave me this beer. I haven't lived in Delco since the 90's, but still have fond (mostly) memories of growing up in Chester. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a copper color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of caramel malts, light grains. Taste is bready malts, caramel, smooth and highly refreshing. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a good beer that I could easily consume several of.

Clear copper amber colored, not much head. Slighlty sweet biscuit malt aroma. Taste is similar, not really any hops detected. Thin tob medium bodied.

12 oz can poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass.

Appearance
Golden amber with 1 finger of white head that dissipates quickly. Good clarity with moderate carbonation.

Nose
Caramel, bread, and soap.

Taste
Caramel and bread. Luckily the soapiness is lost on the flavor. No real hop presence other than helping to keep some balance.

Mouthfeel
Medium-light bodied, crisp, slick, and sweet.

Overall
A very simple malt forward Amber Lager. A tad on the sweet side and could use a little more balance. For a 4% Lager is surely tastes stronger than it is, and that's not a good thing.

Pale orange in color with excellent clarity. Poured with a short, creamy, bright white foam with medium retention. Medium, pilsner malt aroma with light grainy malt notes in tow. No hop aromas. Medium bodied with soft, medium high carbonation and a creamy smooth feel. Medium malt flavor up front followed by a sharp caramel malt flavor before the spicy, hop bitterness rolled through the middle. Medium light grainy malt flavors near the end. Finished semi-dryly with a light caramel malt and bitter hop aftertaste. Aromas lean heavily to the malty side, flavors were pretty evenly balanced. Easy drinking with a great creamy smooth feel.

The clear golden copper colored beer is served in a shaker pint with a 1/4" white head that soon recedes to leave a bit of scattered lacing on the sides. Sipping creates several patches of lacing that soon slide back to the liquid.

The aroma includes some nice bready malt backed up by a touch of slightly herbal hops.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with some bready malt sweetness against the background of herbal hops that help to dry out the sweetness for the ending.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. The finish begins as the bready malt sweetness begins to recede and eventually leave the lightly bitter hops to close out the show.

On the whole a decent lager for occasional consumption or if one is looking for a beer that can comfortably served at a party on the porch with a mixed group of guests. But that said I don't find it particularly outstanding in any way. So I'll probably not repeat it every often.

32 oz growler poured into a pint glass

A- Clear amber/copper color with a two finger white head.

S- Caramel malts, some toasted malts, some bread, faint herbal hops.

T- Follows the nose, nicely blend of toasted and caramel malts, faint herbal hops, not a lot going on, but no flaws.

M- Smooth, lighter body, slightly creamy.

O- A nice easy drinking lager. This a decent beer worth trying, but based off of the normal line ups at Two Stones I wouldn't get this on a night out.
