This beer has caramelized malt on the nose with hints of ripe fruit. Mild on the palate with wellbalanced bitterness, hints of fruit, toasted bread, liquorice, coffee and caramel.

Copenhagen 10/2 2018. 75 cl bottle from Meny, Bryggervangen, Kbh Ø. Comes in a big metalbox filled with hay and wrapped in paper. The symbol of the Priory of Corsendonk printed directly on the bottle even though it today is rebuilt as a hotel. The version I am drinking has an ABV of 6,5.

Pours slightly hazy, dark brown with a red hue and a big dense off-white head. Settles as a 0,5 cm thick layer of dense foam covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma is strong and sweet with a bitter undercurrent. Caramel, brown sugar, light roastiness, unripe berries providing lightly acidic bitterness.

Medium strong carbonation providing prickly mouthfeel. Surprisingly thin texture.

Flavor is nicely balanced and fairly intense. Medium sweetness followed by medium bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with hints of nuts and caramel.

Pretty light and not too sweet Dubbel.

a beautiful belgian dubbel type, a couple of years old now, wonderful bottle conditioning on this, so much easier and drier than expected, airy and wispy feeling for a malty beer, an effortless drinker, really good, surprised i have not had this one before, seen it around a fair bit, but belgian beer always finds me at holiday time. chocolate brown with reddish edges in the glass, a high rising few inches of weightless khaki foam, good bubble size and lots of them. the aroma is nutty like roasted almond, with a dry cocoa element, a note of cola and some attendant sweetness, and great timeless belgian yeast hitting subtle clove and star anise spice notes but mellow too, dried apple rings, tootsie roll candy, and molasses are all there too, lovely and festive. even more expressive in the flavor than in the nose, lots of mid chocolate malt tones, tobacco, brown paper bag, clove and white pepper spice, modest sweetness in the middle that does taper off, raisin and fig fruitiness too, fresh baked dark bread, bran muffin or something, and at once ancient and rustic but also super refined and dialed in, a killer recipe and fantastic execution, belgian brune as much as dubbel to me, insofar as there is a difference, i think there is even though this label says both in different places. amazing mouthfeel with super lively carbonation and shockingly dry for how rich it starts, almost gone even before the swallow, some lightly bitter cocoa and leathery recall, but frothed up and pretty feeling, amazing. lighter body too really for what it is, no trace of its alcohol, and overall this feels high end, monastic, special, and really is quite distinctive, epic ferment and conditioning, aged well, i cant wait to drink this beer again one day, massively impressive!

Cloudy brown color, big beige head. The aroma of malt, caramel, fruits, chocolate. The taste is malty with dark fruits and chocolate notes. Full body, moderate carbonation. Bittersweet finish.

33 cl bottle, proper pint glass, Toulouse, France.
Everything in order, just as most Brouwerij Corsendonk offerings, but nothing spectacular.
Nice fruity nose, good malty brew, little thin on the legs, crushable, no complaint.

The body is medium-light with excellent, soft natural carbonation that creates a tall, durable beige head.
The aroma suggests an ale with substantially poorer flavor than it actually possesses. That flavor is moderately sweet with plentiful notes of dark dried fruits. There's a faint hint of licorice in the aftertaste.

This was easy drinking for sure, honestly kind of light. It has high ratings but I found it to be not as good as others. It was the cheapest dubbel bomber at the time and I understand why. It was just light, not bad at all but left me searching. It could easily have been a little too cold. Needs a revist

It's been like 10 minutes and the head is still hanging around. It's bottled conditioned so that explains why. Nose is plum, dates and fig. There's some rounded malt character, like roasted malt and pilsner. It's a lighter beer so it's actually quite easy drinking, nothing going to the head, really a nice beer for a day when you're maybe heading out in the evening but want something light.

Taste is largely of malt and what you'd call Belgian estery yeast. Some hints of perhaps clove, really reminiscent of what Ommegang's house yeast tastes like. Finish is dry, it's the complete opposite of the decadent super sweet malt bomb that was Primator's Doppelbock (which I had last week). Very pleasant drinking beer.

that’s a nice little dubbel that, i was but concerned off the nose that’d be too sweet but the flavours are bang on between black bread malt, oaky nutty flavours, a nice bit of caramel sweetness, some biscuity flavours there as well, bit of tobacco, spice, belgian yeast, banana, almost a vinous quality to it, light bitterness on the finish, light to medium bodied and high carbonation, a little bit more body would serious elevate this beer, but it’s quite nice all the same
