Dark mohagony with a full head of foam that retains well and leaves nice lacing. Smell of hop and caramel. Primary flavours in the taste are caramel, milk chocolate and dark fruits, but there are also hints of hops, smoke, bacon and red wine. A nice complexity. A dubbel that tends to lean more to bitter than the sweet side. Mouth feel is smooth and full.

6,5% ABV.
Poured into tulip.
Pours almost opaque dark brown beer with thick beige head, excellent retention.
Smell - outstanding and clean aroma of spices and dark fruits.
Taste - roasted, dark fruits, candy sugar, nice spiciness (coriander).
Medium body, good carbonation.
Balance tends to perfection, modern dubbel with some witbier characters.

My first ever belgian ale. It was truly unique, didn't know what to expect so I gave her a try. Back then I didn't know to pour the beer into an appropriate glass and drank most of it from the bottle. Well here is my review, regardless.

L: Reddish brown. Nice looking. Smooth, creamy head that looks slightly dirty.

S: Like a combination of a beer mixed with red wine. Heavy on the dark fruity, wine, sweet flavor. Unique.

T: As I said, like drinking a beer mixed perfectly with a good red wine. Some say in other ale reviews they can taste the dark fruits, etc. Some belgian ales I tried where people said this, I didn't. This one, I absolutely did. Its dominant. Its a great tasting ale.

F: Excellent mouth-feel. Decent carbonation, where the longer you hold it in your mouth, the more the flavors come out, which is like enjoying a very fine wine.

O: Really great. Great belgian ale to start with if you are unfamiliar with them. Its a good starter, lets you know what you are up against with belgian ales and not as strong as a lot of the others, its smooth and tasty, not heavy like a quad. Give it a try, I can't recommend it more for a beginner who hasn't had belgian ales before.

I'm a huge fan of Belgian ales but this one taste like dirty water. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or not but this is one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. Do yourself a favor and get a different Belgian ale. There are plenty of other options out there.
