It probably is fair to tag this as a famous brew. Its yeast is key to making it so.
To Look at this is enough to drink it. To Smell it, I'm tempted to think of the Divine: contemplate dark fruits in a still life.
To Taste Pater is to know that it is inspired, balanced, resolute. In the mouth, it is full and rich; with few bubbles to interfere.

On a winter day with a simple meal (soup and roasted root vegetables), Pater brought me (a neo-heathen) closer to God.

Making it somewhat more well-known was when Pater Dark was reviewed in MJ's "Great Beers of Belgium", he called it a "yeasty, fruity, slightly smoky, bouquet; and suggestion of raisins and dark chocolate on the palate. It is brewed under contract at Du Bocq." MJ's 1999 "Guide" gave it only 2.5 of 4 stars back when it was brewed by Van Steenberge.

Dark mohagony with a full head of foam that retains well and leaves nice lacing. Smell of hop and caramel. Primary flavours in the taste are caramel, milk chocolate and dark fruits, but there are also hints of hops, smoke, bacon and red wine. A nice complexity. A dubbel that tends to lean more to bitter than the sweet side. Mouth feel is smooth and full.

6,5% ABV.
Poured into tulip.
Pours almost opaque dark brown beer with thick beige head, excellent retention.
Smell - outstanding and clean aroma of spices and dark fruits.
Taste - roasted, dark fruits, candy sugar, nice spiciness (coriander).
Medium body, good carbonation.
Balance tends to perfection, modern dubbel with some witbier characters.
