From tasting notes 11/08/18
Had on-tap at The Veil in Richmond, VA

Appearance - Served 12oz into a teku, hazy and dull orange in color.

Smell - Aroma hits on notes of orange with pineapple, mango, guava, stone fruit and a touch of pine.

Taste - Follows the nose. Juicy orange with lesser mango.  Pineapple bite creeps in mid-taste and becomes more prominent as the beer warms. Guava fruity spicy kick. Hints of pine. Nice balance of all flavors in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Smooth, slightly creamy drinker makes this a damn easy drinker.

Overall - A pretty damn good NE DIPA. Reminds me a bit of Moonraker DOJO. A side by aide would be dope.

Pours a darker shade of orange haze with a nice, fluffy, foamy head. Smells more on the dank side, with notes of green onion and cat pee, but flavor is light and citrusy. Body is swooshy and pleasant, and surprisingly refreshing considering the ABV. Great beer.

Looks for the NEIPA has really become a category with little variations. Yes, murky and somewhere in the yellow/orange side of the world, so ya, it looks "correct" to style. Smells very bright with tangerine, garlic and scallion. Taste pops dank with that same garlic but tails off slightly sweet with a little chalky earthiness and bits of OJ upon exit. Pretty clean aftertaste, little gritty and a little heat but overall a nice finish.

Beer is approximately 10 days old based on date on bottom of the can. Head is nice, aroma is shining star, although the taste completely lacks something. Has a bit of an unexplainable "earthy" burnt wood bitterness on the back end and surprisingly malt forward for the style. An unbalanced beer and not as dank as described as in almost all of the other IIPAs of the style generally have. Not a horrible beer by any means but not a very good offering for the style. The juicy IPAs from The Veil are outstanding but this one will be passed by the next time I purchase cans at the brewery.

Canned 5/29/18 (11 days ago)

L - 2-finger offwhite head atop a murky orange body.

S - dank citrus, pine.

T - follows the nose. Moderate sweetness. Low bitterness. Low booziness.

F - medium body and carb.

O - another dank candy beer.

Appearance - Pours murky burnt orange color with thick soapy white head. Spotty lacing all around the glass.

Aroma - The aroma is pretty faint, orange, pine, little alcohol maybe some tropical fruit of some sort.

Taste - Taste is pretty standard tropical fruit forward mango and papaya pine and citrus peel on the finish with a touch of alcohol coming through. The alcohol seems to thin the flavors a little.

Feel - Medium bodied well carbonated little alcohol burn slightly dry finish.

Overall - Nose and taste are both a little weak, just seems a little watered down.

6oz pour in red wine glass at brewery

L: Dark copper, cloudy, nice persistent lacing
S: Dank with some pine and spice and lots of tropical fruits - mango, papaya, etc.
T: Some of that tropical fruit is still there, but that piney dankness leads
F: Viscous, oily, and rich. Really coats the mouth and stays there.
O: Really let's those piney, resinous hops shine with enough tropical fruit to balance it out.

The Double IPA with my favorite name ... Dirt Nap from the fine folks at The Veil Brewing. Nice head on the pour, some gentle lacing. Lovely smell out of the can ... Alcohol and citrus, but the flavor is where it really shines. ALL the fruits. I mean seriously all of them are hitting in the flavor profile ... Beyond the expected citrus, there is a lot of tropicals, mango, pineapple, something more tart ... Passion fruit, perhaps? The tartness keeps it drinkable, for me anyway. Really crisp in the mouthfeel, and leaves a real tingle on the top of the tongue, even without obvious active carbonation in the glass. Thumbs up, my friends.

Super murky hazy brunt gold color. White head. Can.

Orange and papaya. Some mango. Straight up tropical juice. Really soft. No bitterness.

Really enjoyable double that drinks like a single.

Pours a very hazy brownish-orange with a huge, foamy white head and tons of sticky lacing.

The smell explodes with mango, orange, peach, some pine, and an earthy/floral/bitter smell. It's amazing.

The taste is deep with stone fruit like peach and mango with a lot of tropical flavor and an earthy finish with a bit of alcohol.

The mouthfeel is thick and oily with medium carbonation and a really long finish.

Overall this is a great, complex beer and a treat from @vabeerguy for my first Veil.
