Broz Night OutBroz Night Out
Notes: Broz Night Out is the imperial version of our low ABV Citra IPA Broz Day Off. Pale malt, a bunch of oats, and hopped exclusively and intensely with 100% Citra hops. Clocking in at 9%, this one is insane. Incredible aromatics of Lychee, tangerine, grapefruit peel, dank, with an extremely similar flavor profile. Very low bitterness too. Perfect for when it's the Broz Night Out(that even pertains to your #ladybroz)! This is one of our favorite DIPAs that we've released so far.

Received from @vabeerguy. Canned on 7/15/2019. Poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass. It pours an opaque, turbid tangerine color with brownish hues. The fluffy, bright white head and thick, soapy lacing lasted through the pour. It's an attractive beer. What a super fruity nose! Tangerine, lemon, pineapple, ripe melon, and other sweet tropical notes, oats, lite pine, and floral hops. The taste explodes with ripe tangerine and pineapple, along with creamy, sweet oats and resinous pine. The Citra hops provide more fruit than bitterness. This ale medium-bodied and pleasantly carbonated, and it drinks awfully easily for its 9% ABV. Overall, this is a first rate NEIPA. It's not overly bitter and would be an excellent intro to the pleasures of DIPAs.

Pours a murky orange with some brown hues a large fluffy white head that was very well retained and left sticky frothy lacing all the way down the glass. Smells of citrus and tropical fruits along with some pine. Tastes of grapefruit, tangerine, grapefruit peel, pine and pepper. Full bodied, medium carbonation dry and moderately bitter finish.

Aroma - Tangerine, orange, pineapple, mango hint of pine.

Taste - Pineapple, orange, oats, citrus peel, light mango, pine. Really balanced bitter/sweet flavors.

Overall - Great tropical flavors mixed with pine and bitter citrus peel. Love it.

Canned 01/22/18

Appearance - Pours opaque and dull orange in color with an off-white, half finger's width head. Fair retention before dissipating to a thin, broken layer of suds and a fair ring around the edge of the glass.

Smell - The aroma hits on notes of orange, grapefruit and pine with some sweeter, tropical pineapple notes.

Taste - Follows the nose. Juicy citrus and pine with a hint of pineapple. Mild breadiness. Finish lingers with citrus, spice and pine.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. Firm, silky texture with an easy, slightly dry finish.

Overall - I'm really not a big fan of single hop brews. This one does nothing to change my mind. Good beer, but give me something more than just Citra hops, please!

Pours a straw golden hue white off white head. Mango emanates from the glass. It is very tropical fruit forward with citrus cascading on the finish. Mostly mangoes and tangerine. There's a touch of soapiness on the finish. Very fruit forward and reminds me of Julius in its softness well rounded feel. I had a half pour of this and didn't really feel the alcohol, but I imagine a pint would be more demanding. I thoroughly enjoyed this IPA.

Enjoyed fresh on draft at the brewery and picked up several 4 packs a few months later as my beach beer...

A - pours a turbid light brown/heavy cordouroy color: looks like a glass of dark oj. No head retention: poured from a can and it's gone. Lacing is also gone, condensation on the glass is all that remains.
S - incredibly dank. The obvious tropical fruit notes, a hint of apricot, but mostly the oniony/earthy notes coming through.
T - palate matches the nose: dank and fruity. This one is a little boozy but nothing over the top. It should be expected from a 9%er... Juicy as all get out. Drinking this after another NEIPA juice bomb reveals the lack of completely in the hop profile but oulines the oats in the smoothness.
M - mildly bitter. More of it aggregating in the back and side if the tongue than on the front.
O - this is an outstanding beer by a brewery that most likely could be the best in Virginia. They need no explanation or introduction. So glad vcu was out of session so I didn't have to wait in line. And CRUSHED two of these during the review so be advised....

Thanks goes out to vabeerguy for this brew.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 07/10/17

Poured into a Tired Hands glass a very nice cloudy yellowish color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerine, grapefruit). some nice diesel like. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with some nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerine, grapefruit), some nice diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew. Addictive! A really nice milkshake. Glad to have gotten a chance to try it.

Thank you CanConPhilly for this
16 oz can, dated 7/10/17, poured into a teku

A- A hazy golden copper with a two finger white head.

S- Grapefruit, citrus, melons, some tropical fruits, a little dank, some wet grass.

T- Citrus, melons, some tropical fruits, finish is dank and a little piney, a little on the sweet side.

M- Smooth, creamy, medium body.

O- A solid citra DIPA, but feel like it would be better as an IPA in the the 6-7% range.

Fantastic beer from The Veil. Reminds me very much of the best from Trillium. Lots of grapefruit flavor and tons of dankness. The mouthfeel on this beer is spectacular.

12 oz pour for $7++ at the source. Hazy dark yellow. Nose of vegetal green pepper and light citrus/pine. Very reminiscent of Tired Hands, which typically isn't a good thing IMO. Taste is apricot and grapefruit up front quickly followed by the green pepper and finishing with a light pine bitterness. The signature TH gross vegetal used to be way worse in earlier batches but is still a raw, unpleasant flavor. Good otherwise.....

Hazy orange hued with a small white head and minimal lacing. Huge citrus filled hop soaked aroma. Notes of liquified grapefruit, lychee, sweet oranges, white bread and citrus zest. Medium body, lower carbonation, smooth and a bit dry. A lovely single hop DIPA but not very complex, it's only crutch.

Perfect hazy orange juice. Citrus explosion and super soft and drinkable with very little bitterness. At 9% I could drink this like a session. Regular access to this would be bad for my health. The best Veil beer I have had so far.

Appearance: Arrives somewhat cloudy with a golden-tinged amber color; the head builds nicely, and leaves a smattering of lace

Smell: Tropical fruit tones of mango and melon, with a slightly herbal edge

Taste: A bit of toasted malt and then the hops take over, bringing the mango and melon flavors; citrusy, through the middle, with orange, lemon, and grapefruit tones; moderately bitter, after the swallow, but the finish is slightly sweet and boozy

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A very nice DIPA that plays to the Veil's strengths

Medium orange body with a thin head. Nose is big on citrus, tree fruits, hints of dank grass and toast. Flavor has the familiar Citra profile, along with bready grains and a noticeable booze presence. Feel is very nice, aside from the booze this one is easy to drink. May let this one sit for a couple weeks and revisit, but overall a nice DIPA.

Smelled dank as soon as I popped the can open. Big notes of citrus...tangerine, grapefruit, along with grassy hops. Hint of pineapple.

Flavor is less sharp, but filled with plenty of orange and grapefruit juice notes. Straight up like drinking citrus juice, a touch less sweet, with a bready malt finish and hint of bitterness in the earthy finish. Bitterness lingers a tad, but never becomes offensive.

This beer pours a darker yellow with a thin head that quickly dissipates to nothing. Unlike the other Veil cans I've tried, the carbonation on this beer seems to be lacking. The smell and taste is tons of fresh oranges, tangerine, and peach with a touch of alcohol and bitter grapefruit at the end. Feel is good for a Double IPA. Good beer, but not my favorite from The Veil.

16oz can poured into a tulip

Pours an amber orange color with a small fizzy white head that reduces to leave nothing behind. Smells of spicy vegetables, tangerine, grapefruit & resin. Tastes of juicy orange, grapefruit zest, citrus marmalade, resinous finish. Medium-heavy body, medium carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel and finish. Juicy citrus with some nice sweetness

Poured on tap in a teku at the brewery, the beer is a cloudy, opaque, orange-gold coloring, with a thin halo of white head. Aromas of toast and herbal notes forward, with mango and melon notes to follow. Flavors are toasted forward, with a solid citrus follow of orange, lemon, and grapefruit. Toasted backbone, with a grassy and pine resin hops profile. Acidity and bitterness build on a smooth, chewy body. The aftertaste is citrus acidity and sweetness, lingering on past the slick, dry finish.

Appearance: pours an orange to golden yellow color. a half of quarter or a finger of a white head with lowish retention and leaving behind a slight lacing. Hazy and cloudy and completely opaque

Smell: orange juice, tropical fruits, orange zest, low resin. bread-like to toasted grain malts

Taste: opens with a little bit of grapefruit juice, transitioning into a deeper citrus taste with orange juice and zest. fruit flavors continue to spew out of this one with lychee and more tropical fruit characteristics. tiny amount of hop resin. malt backbone makes its way through consisting of bread-like to toasted cracker flavors.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. lower bitterness, that doesn't linger. good balance and strong drinkability. missing any booziness

Overall: another killer hoppy beer from The Veil. This one falls to the second tier, though I could see it being one of the most popular. I like the super fruitiness from the hops but would prefer a bit more bitterness and some more resinous to classic hop character. Also wouldn't mind the booze being a little bit more present as it appears in Cat Boy.

Fresh 16oz can purchased at the brewery 7/5/16. Pours a frothy, off white, two finger head after an aggressive fill. Color is thick, solid orange you can’t see through. Nose is fresh zest and bitter orange rind with some aromatic hops in the background. Taste is sweet up front as you’re hit with some malt, including a touch of wet oats. Then the hops come out sharpest on the finish after the rush of candied mandarin orange. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation. The taste follows the nose strongly and overall it’s a great balance of sweet, malty, and bitter flavors. My rating should end there, but if you absolutely need a comparison it’s like a softer Heady Topper blended with Society & Solitude 4 or a slightly less sweet Julius.

Hops: Citra

Classic orangey Citra nose. A little grass and pine as well. Some heat. My only critique is I wish it was closer to 8%.
