The beer pours a huge and voluminous white head that leaves a lot of foam around. The beer itself is a very beautiful clear metallic pale gold color. It's pretty good looking.
The smell is decent. It has a good sweet note with a creamy corn note and a bit of light bitter grass hop note.
The taste is pretty good for the style. It has a more pronounced bitter hop note that is more noticeable and the corn is creamier but the edge goes more to the hop note.
The feel is a medium body with a creamy feel to it and light carbonation. It's pretty fluffy but heavy at the same time.
Overall, a decent beer and one of the better adjunct lagers compared to the BMC.

16oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours a pale straw color with a small fizzy white head that has short retention and settles to a ring around the edge
S- toasted corn nuts, grains, crackers, light grass
T- clean up front, followed just a hint of sweetness, some light vegetal notes, the finish is dry and leaves a nice toasted cracker-like linger
M- light body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp, dry, biting finish
O- this is the first adjunct lager I've had that didn't have an off-puting disgusting finish, which proves that this style can be tolerable. On a hot summer day, I could go through a 4pack of these very quickly

Golden color, malty, toasted corn notes & cracker.. some herbal / citrus hop notes. MIld bitterness. Moderate carbonation. Med-light feel. Not a fan of the style, but it is the best of the style I have had.

16 oz can dated 10/17/16 and poured into Belgian ale glass.
L: 2F head with decent retention, not much lacing. Leaves tiny ring. Beer is a pale, slightly hazy straw gold.
S: Very malt-heavy, grains and roasted corn alike, as befits a Mexican lager. Grassy notes.
T: Roasty grains and corn malts, grassy and herbal notes. Toasty and a little bit of citrus.
F: Light to medium bodied, medium to medium-well carbonated. Nicely constructed and balanced. Probably a bit too carbonated, but still somewhat crushable and pretty refreshing.
O: Craft lagers are the next big thing and this is a very good example of what the future holds, I hope.

Most crushable Mexican Lager ever. Drank from several long stemmed wine glasses as well as cans. Had to bring my own damn lime to the brewery, but I don't mind slicing limes with a pocket knife.

Pours a cloudy straw color - the relative turbidity isn't style-appropriate. There's about half a finger of white-colored head, and it has a rough texture (plus the retention is poor). On the other hand, some lacing manages to stick to the glass.
I notice a lot of corn on the aroma, and that IS style-appropriate. There's a crackery malt note that pops better than the Modelos and Bohemias of the world. Even better, The Veil (subtly) nailed the mild lemon and lime qualities the best of this style feature. Even if it doesn't pop like their IPAs, this accomplishes everything a Mexican-style lager should.
This has a higher gravity than most in the style, so it delivers more malt flavors - primarily sugar cookie and white bread. Flaked corn notes show up around the middle and finish, alongside a bit of apricot, peach, and even toast. Drinking it some more will slowly unfurl some lemony hop flavors, and then even a touch of bitterness. I'm amazed at how absurdly well layered this brew is - usually a Mexican-style lager is just simple refreshment, but this goes one step beyond.
It definitely seems heavier-bodied than the norm, and that robs it of drinkability. But here's the rub: this is one of the few lagers south of 7-8% that can legitimately be savored. Unfortunately, since it's so bulky on the palate, it really doesn't have a refreshing (or even crisp) finish. Carbonation is medium.
Okay, The Veil know their way around IPAs, I can't deny that. But for them to nail a Mexican lager - a style known more for simple refreshment than complex refinement - proves their worth to me even more. The only complaint, oddly enough, is that really isn't refreshing enough. Still, this would pair incredibly well with Mexican cuisine, not to mention it has more flavor in a single tallboy than an entire six-pack of Corona does. This should definitely be brewed again.
3.81/5: I'm beginning to doubt if these guys can do any wrong
