From a 16oz can, dated 03/27/18 - so, getting a little long in the tooth at just shy of 12 weeks. Served in a willi glass.

Pours a thick and murky dark apricot colour with a scant half-finger of fine beige head. No retention or lacing to speak of, just a feeble little collar of fizz.

A vanishingly faint nose of something vaguely fruity and yeasty.

Taste is cloyingly sweet, malt syrup, orange juice concentrate, composting cantaloupe and canned pineapple. A little tingly bitterness at the ending.

Mouthfeel is thick and syrupy, relatively heavy bodied and under-carbonated.

Overall, well, here is a beer that didn't hold up at all well over something less than three months - assuming it was even a good can to start with - and, boys and girls, let this be a lesson to you all not to lose track of what's been pushed to the back of the fridge.

Pours a bright turbid orange to peach with a thin off white head on medium pour. Nose is bright. Fresh tropical fruits and lemon zest along with fresh dough. First and foremost with the taste, has a huge doughy maltiness to it which makes for a rather sweet kick. Surprised given that this is a huge triple IPA. It’s definitely balanced tho, leaning towards the malty side. Sweet dough mingles with bright mellow tropical fruits and citrus pith along with melon, stone fruits and floral. Large creamy body with a slight touch of heat from the alcohol.

Chubbles - The Veil featuring Cloudwater
TIPA - 10.9% abv
Canned 3/27/18 (5 days ago)

L - 1/2 finger dirty offwhite, almost yellow head recedes quickly. Body is a turbid, murky orange/brown. Looks ominous.

S - loads of citrus, some booze. Some herbal notes. Not as “wow” of a nose as most Veil ipas...especially given how fresh this is.

T - dank citrus. More specifically, herb laced with grapefruit seed oil. Moderately boozy, low on sweetness, low on bitterness.

F - Hugely creamy, full body with barely any carb.

O - this is the beer equivalent of a Liger. It’s damn alluring, but also a bizarre combination of flavors. I’d rather have a standard Veil ipa over this one though.

L - very hazy yellow with a nice white head

S - great smell with mango, papaya, guava, honey, nougat, passion fruit, orange, banana. Very fruity. No booze

T - Follow the smell with a certain sweetness but it remains balanced

M - Very juicy with almost no carbonation

O - A really nice TIPA. I can't believe this is a 10% beer. The abv is so well hidden. Very nice tropical profile. Great

Can thanks to Paul.

Super hazy yellowish hue with an inch of foamy, white head. Tropical fruit aromas with a hint of alcohol. Oranges and melon with a gentle alcoholic warmth in the finish. Medium sweetness and medium-full body. Terrific beer, though best shared.

16 oz can dated 5/31/17. Poured into Aslin Teku glass.

L: Hazy deep bronze/orange. Tough color to quantify. 2F head with OK retention, some spotty lacing, and a cap and ring.

S: Lots of orange and grapefruit as well as a berry/cherry tinge. A bit earthy.

T: Lots of citrus up front along with a cherry note from the El Dorado. Flaked oats and malt. Slightly earthy finish, very neutral from the oats. You have to try really hard to notice the alcohol content.

F: Full-bodied, almost, thanks to the oats. Light carbonation. Lingering flavor is fantastic. Top-notch construction and balance. Insanely drinkable despite nearly 11% ABV.

O: I really hope they make this again.
