Notes: Henry from Monkish is belated birthday gift for one of our best budz. We used his fave yeast and some of his fave malts/hops. Hopped intensely with Galaxy and Simcoe, clocking in at 5.9% this is the double hopped IPA that we think Henry would want to drink.

I couldn't even figure out if this was a Veil or Monkish beer when I first pulled it out of my fridge, as I had to look it up on here. Looked like it was dated 7/10/17 and for being two years old, this held up well and was still a quality brew after all of this time. This malted out quite a bit but was still enjoyable and worth of both of the breweries that were involved in this beer's creation!

This had a murky, goldenrod hue to it with plenty of webbed, bubbly head to top it off. A fair around of lacing was left behind as I worked my way through this, with a thick ring in the middle of my pint glass standing out among the splotches. Tons of yeast, spelt, dank citrus, and and muted tropical fruits in the nose as the taste was just as full and varied as the aroma indicated. A nice mouthfeel of wheat and biscuit came through in the taste as this was quite full bu had enough slickness and muted orange to hold my attention throughout as the aftertaste had some grass, dew, and deep forest in it to give this the depth that it needed. Balanced and steady, there wasn't a lot of potency here but this was so drinkable that I didn't hope for anything too outrageous as I worked my way through this.

That was the case with the alcohol in this as it was quite light for an IPA and barely noticeable. Sure, the label was nice in an understated way but it was on par with the liquid inside of the can as well. Not a typical IPA, this was more along the lines of an American Pale Ale because of the balance and lack of potency that so many hoppy beers have. Thankfully, this was nicely crafted and immensely enjoyable, as there was little sediment at the bottom of the liquid. Nice job all-aroundo on this one!

Thanks goes out to vabeerguy for this brew.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 07/10/17

My first from this brewery.

Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a very nice cloudy yellowish color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy two-finger off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a pretty nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerine, grapefruit). some diesel like. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with some nice citrus complex (oranges, tangerine, grapefruit), some diesel like. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a pretty tasty brew. Addictive! Glad to have gotten a chance to try it.

16 oz. can. Hazy murky bright orange. Smells of mango and passionfruit hops. Tastes of more mango and tropical fruit with pale malt sweetness. Some orange. Dries out with a hint of pithy bitterness. Medium heavy. Good, but very big.

If this were a circa 9% DIPA, I'd probably only be in the 4.25 ABV range. However, as a single IPA at modest ABV, this one is truely remarkable. It is punching well above its weight class

16oz can poured into snifter

A- pours a murky bright yellow color with a one-finger foamy white head that reduces to a ring around the edge

S- tropical hop aroma with notes of mango and pineapple, a bit of pine. Slightly malty

T- bright tropical fruity hops up front; pineapple and mango leading the way, along with passionfruit, melon, grass & a hint of fresh mint. Mid-palate is slightly malty, then finishes with a hit of juicy citrus, lingers of more tropical fruit

M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp semi-dry finish

O- considering this is less than 6% abs, this is absolutely loaded with tropical hops, while remaining remarkably drinkable

Can dated 7/10/17 poured into a stemmed tulip. Look is murky yellow with a tint of orange small white head leaving small spotted lacing behind. Smell is straight mango and orange with some oats and biscuit malt! The taste follows the nose in the same order. The feel is medium, slick, with a nice hop bite in the back. Overall I dig it and am surprised by the mixed reviews!
