July 2002, bought in Norway: More of a tropical lager than anything you'd expect from Lapland. Sure, the "Arctic water" gimmick - but some flavour would have been nice too.

Its name means "Lapplands Gold".
Started to brew the beer in Torneå 1873 beacuse of thirsty finnish goldminers.
The water is tapped from clear natural waterstreams.Goldenyellow.Looks good smells good feels good tastes lovely!..The beer is availabile in 5.2 and 7%.

This is one of Finland's most popular beers and it's not bad, but it definately is not anything to brag about.
A: Golden color with medium-sized head. Very little lacing.
S: Not much going on there. Your standart Pale Lager aroma that resembles Pilsner smell.
T: Light-bodied, a hint of pine and malts. Nothing that would make one go "aaah!".
M: Quite a bit of carbonation. Small-sized bubbles.
O: This is the Finnish version of run-of-the-mill beer. Available in Finland everywhere in cans, bottles and on-tap. Sold in Finnish supermarkets by the case (24 cans), the Finns call it (the case) "mäyräkoira" (translated: dachshund), not sure why they've nicknamed it after a dog beed.

Tested: Can and can poured in glass
A - clear golden color with minor head
S - OK, it smells like beer.. no hoppy or other aromas
T - thin body but thirst quenching.
M - feels like enriched water in your mouth.
D - very good. It has to be icecold!
To be honest, I have seen Finland's beers reviewed here. you should judge them only after sitting in sauna for hours and rolling in the snow => you did life in Finland.
Lapin Kulta (gold of lappland) has its special place when it come to 'thinner' beers...
Compared to mass-products from the US? TAKE the lapin kulta!!
