Pours a two finger white head that fades quickly to ring, leaving some lace. Crystal clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and light-medium bodied. Slight hoppy nose. Flavor is balanced with hints of caramel. 330ml bottle €4.50 at Hotel Ivalo in Finland; Hartwall is part of Heineken N.V. From my notes - 7/12/2008.

Beer bottle (33cl), tasted in 2003.
Appearance : kristal colour, white foam
Smell : Its scent seems fruity
Taste and mouthfell : fresh, hoped like a pilsener
Drinkability : very common beer, but without any character
Pub : It is brewed with the icy waters of Lapland which ensures pure water !

Euro macro swill!
Not so swilly, really, compared to American versions but you get the idea.
This can was part of a six pack that was hand delivered from Finland; what I wanted was Sinebrychoff porter and I got this. Go figure.
Pretty good for what it is. One of those that should be consumed directly from the can for maximum joy but some was poured into a glass for a full review.
Expected color and white fizzy head. Odors are inoffensive and clean; grainy with some hints of hop.
Taste is somewhat above average relative to style. I prefer Harp to this but I could see taking this over PBR from time to time if given the option. No rice!
There will probably be no headache after consuming several of these. A well designed beer for drinkin and not thinkin.

Poured a clear dark yellow with a thick white head.

Smell was a very light grassy odor.

Taste was a very subdued Euro lager, slight grassy hop flavor, just a touch of pale malt.

Mouthfeel was thin and watery.

Drinkability is ok, nothing terrible about it, but nothing great either, basically taste like an American Macro made in Europe.

Full golden, clean. White head, decent.
At the smell, essentially cereals, with wheat, biscuit, and some notes of herbal hop.
The taste is quite warm, full of maltiness, and even with malt dustiness.
Quite good body, full and round.
Warming in the aftertaste, too, even if you can find some hop.

Sold as Lapin Kulta Premium Lager, in St. Petersburg. At 80 rubles, the most expensive beer I had in Russia (admittedly from my hotel gift shop). And yet its label seems to suggest adjunct grains. There is a very slight citrusy hop quality to it, but otherwise it’s just another "premium export" beer. The label says it’s brewed in Tornio, Finland, which may make it the northernmost beer out there.

This bottle was brought to me by my brother John. Many thanks to him.

Aroma is a light pale malt with a watery quality and a slight sweetness.
Pours a brilliant yellow gold with a bright white head that settles in time.
Taste is fairly classic for style and region with a nice sweet malt character surrounded by a hoppy bitterness. Possesses a very short finish.
Thin mouth feel, but not too watery. Soft carbonation. Good feel for style.
Overall a fairly standard beer. Has an easy drinking quality and enjoyable for what it is.

Self served out a light light amber with a very thin fizz of a short lifed head. Flavor speaks slowly of malts and hops, but the flavors do not speak very well. Easy drinking because of a lack of badness, but not because of a reason of goodness. Thin and average just like any other macro lager. Meh.

Average lager not much to it...

The color is very bright, unlike many other lagers, which appears very qttrqctive for this GOLDEN beer. It has a nice head as well.

The taste is predominantly malty, nice, with hoppyness to it but its a plain ole lager which doesnt rock MY world. no need to try it anyways more than once.

Came in a light green 33cl bottle with a dark label featuring an image of what I assume is the midnight sun. Ingredients included "unmalted cereals," which I assume means rice and/or corn. I wish I had read the existing reviews before I tossed the bottle, in order to determine whether or not I had a III or a IV A (see BeerResearcher's entry). I know the ABV was 5.2%, and believe the label called this a "Class III Premium Lager". Go figure.

Poured a clear straw gold with a white semi-firm head that nevertheless disappeared faster than our cat when my three-year-old daughter starts calling for her. Lace? Fuhgeddaboutit. This brew had a sweet grainy nose and a harshly prickly, medium-bodied mouth. The initial taste is malty and sweet, but there is not much of a finish. The aftertaste attempts a divide and conquer maneuver: very mild touch of bitter at the back of the tongue, a bit of malt on the jowels and excessive carbonation tingle on the tip of the tongue. I certainly wasn't "conquered." This is drinkable, but by no means worth seeking out.

In Kazakhstan in the mid-90s, this was considered one of the best beers available. In Moscow in 2003, it ain't even close. That's progress for you!

Unbeleivable lack of flavour. Look, its easy to drink, but i won't score drinkability high, because it bored me stupid, and i didn't particularly want to drink anymore, very clean, with light carbonation, no aroma, and no flavours to speak of, it wasn't that nasty however, just extremely boring.

Now to avoid some confusion here, this Lapin Kulta is from Tornio, Finland near the city of Rovaniemi just north of the Arctic Circle. The Finns claim this is where the "real" Santa Claus resides. Anyway, that said, there are two versions of Lapin Kulta, a III (4.5% alc.)beer and the slightly stronger IV A (5.2% alc.) beer. The one I am reviewing is the IV A. This Lager is has a nice Golden/Amber color and is quite clear. The medium malty body provides a smooth foundation. The IV beer is amply hopped. The hop and alcohol fragrance has some staying power. A good blend of hops a makes for a flavorful brew. The fresh and clean finish tempts you to have another.

Lapin Kulta means "the gold of lapland". Lapland is a rather vast area in northern Sweden and Finland. Lapin Kulta is brewed out of fresh water from the mountain wells in Lapland.

The beer pours very golden and crystal clear. Not much of a head, I managed to do a small one but it settled quickly and didn't leave any lacing at all. The smell is bready and fresh nothing spectacular.

Medium bitterness and medium carbonation, perfect in this matter really. The actual taste however isn't anything fancy. Bready, light and fresh. I suppose this kind of beer is suited for a hot summer evening outside, not a winterday inside.

Overall I wasn't overly impressed, it's a solid brew but like I said, I think it's a "summerbeer".
