I was thinking why the Germans started making their own Pils when they can do so many more different, much better kinds of beer - like Helles for example?
Not that I don’t like Pils, on the contrary, that’s where I come from. Not Pils as such, rather Pilsner, and its Czech original, the lezák. But I digress. Pils is a great beer, even the German version is magnificent in its own right. The problem maybe is that recently I’ve been drinking so much good quality Helles that coming across an “okay” beer just doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.
Hop bitterness is what I got at most, without hoppiness - do the math, the beer was bitter without the excitement. Letting it warm a little didn’t do it much justice either, didn’t feel much difference from a Becks tbh…
It wasn’t bad though, qualitywise was absolutely alright, it was just missing originality, character and the interesting factor.

Pours a clear pale yellow with fine head.
Smell is crisp and crackery, Slightly metallic with notes of citrus and some floral hints.
Taste is crisp and clean, quite light. Notes of crackers and citrus with metallic and floral hints. Moderate bitterness, quite refreshing.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium a bit creamy and well carbonated.
Overall, an easy to drink pilsner that can't quite hide the metallic hints.

Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- A gluggy pour from the necked bottle. Clear bright pale gold with notable rising CO2 from my nucleated glass. 1Cm snow white fine-bubble head. ps after 10mins, holds very well.
S- I could smell it during the pour (unusual), a bright verdant aspect.
T- Immediately dry on the palate, hoppy-dry and that's sustained through the finish. There is some malt eveident but the trad dry hopping dominates.
F- It's very clean, no stray flavours or elements.
O- This balmy summer's day in London it hit a whole 16-18C, phew scorchio! Point being this trad hoppy-dry 'narrow profile' (trad aspects only) in contemporary terms might be considered by some as all a bit austere. But I can imagine a properly hot summer's day (a la 1976) this might be just the kind of beer I'd be reaching for. If you want drama this isn't it. If you're into a refreshing trad brew or discovering the various aspects within the Pilsener style then this merits trying.
Review2032/scoring all done, now the reveal, I get to read the lables to see what I missed! ==> 'Reinheitsgebot' trad ingredients. Lable in German except on back lable and on the inside of the cap a logo saying 'Slow Brewing'.
500ml bottle BB: 28/10/2021 £3 Bought from TremblingMadness, York/UK as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London.

Had 0.5l in a Salzburg cafe.
Arrived in a branded pilsner glass with a super thick creamy head and a clear yellow gold body with small bubbles. Smells of lemongrass and hay. Tastes of lemon thyme and a tad of toasted sunflower seeds. Finishes clean with no noticeable hops. Did not go well with Salzburger nockerl but paired well with a bosna sandwich.
