Pretty bad beer, I think I might got a bad batch because it has good ratings. Very acid in the taste and a bit astringent in the after taste. Smells and looks right for the style.

Poured from a 500 mL swing-top bottle into a weizen glass. Stamped 2320174.

A: Deep brown body that take on an opaque black appearance in the glass. 2 fingers of slightly rocky, off-white head. Good retention. Light lacing.

S: Nutty, chocolate notes with underlying banana, raisin, plum. Light coffee. A bit of port, a touch of smoke.

T: Lightly tangy, roasted malt notes open, intermingled with sweeter, fruitier wheat notes. A tempered, noble-type hopping arises late for a semi-dry finish. Minimal alcohol presence. Lingering wheat-fueled fruit and spice in the aftertaste. This one starts a schwarzbier and ends a hefe.

M: Moderate carbonation with a light to medium body. Feels like a hefeweizen.

O: Struck me as an above average hefeweizen with some flourishes of schwarzbier-like malt that are more present in the nose than on the palate. A bit different from other dunkelweizen that I've had. More of a nutty, tangy roasted malt than the typical dried fruit, raisin. Easy drinker. Good stuff.

Prost!

I found this to be very delicious. Doesn't taste like a weizen at all. Rich, roasty, smooth and delicious. Amazing inch plus head that doesn't shrink as you drink. This is a luxurious dark beer. Highest recommendation.

Bottle 2214502 at 40 degrees into shaker
Aroma of roasted malt
Head average (4 cm), light brown, creamy (second pour somewhat frothy), slowly diminishing to 3 mm ring and layer
Lacing fair - many small islands and skid marks as the level receeds
Body dark brown, opaque
Flavor begins lighly sweet, ends slightly sour, light rasted malt throughout; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, watery, lively carbonation

Appearance 4.25, Aroma 4, Flavor 4, Palate 3.75 Overall 4

Sampling right now on 9/29/14. Comes in a single 500ml (NOT listed on the bottle) or 16.9 ounce bottle with a ceramic stopper for $2.99 at Hy-Vee in Council Bluffs, Iowa that I bought today. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a .5l 'Paulaner' weissber vase glass.

Pours a very dark brown if not a bitch black as you can't see through it. Has a good 3-finger foamy creamy thick beige head that settles down to a good 3+mm near the end of the drink. A good amount as well as sediment is seen in the bottom of the glass as well as in the bottom of the bottle. On the label it says "Hefe-weizen must be drunk from the glass-never from the bottle". No problem there. The aroma is of wheat with some hop aromas. The taste is even better than the aroma and has some sweet toffee and brown sugar in the mix as well. Very pleasant and goes down very easy. A tasty brew with medium body and perfect carbonation. A great brew!
