Notes / Commercial Description:
Howling Wolf Weisse Bier is an unfiltered Bavarian-style Hefeweizen. Brewed with a hearty amount of wheat, this Weissbier pours a light clouded golden color with a generous head. Gently hopped to balance the malt sweetness, Howling Wolf’s flavors and aromas are subtle with a hint of fruit and spice. At 5% alcohol by volume, this light-bodied ale is a refreshing session beer for any time of year.

A- Pale golden, almost honey-colored with very thin head and even thinner tracing

S- Slight fruity aroma with a hint of hay/wheat

T- Not as wheaty as some weisse-style beers, slight fruitiness along with the smell, a little hoppy bite at the end, overall very pleasant

M- very light on the mouth with some carbonation, very enjoyable

O- Very tasty and palatable. One of the nest wheat beers I've had in a while, nothing offencive about it, if it is a little uninspired at times.

Serving type: bottle poured into an imperial pint glass

Nice-enough looking in the tall Maredsous glass. Pale amberish yellow with a handsome foam. Starts out clear. It takes a lot of swirling of the bottle to get the sediment stirred up much. Plenty of suds in the mouth. Faint wheaty aroma with lemon in the nose.

A very light wheat flavor. It's more of a hybrid between the American and German styles. Definitely more tart than a Hefeweizen. Some pleasant perfumey notes and a little lemony and appley fruit. Quite drinkable if you like the less malty style. Finishes with a distinct club soda taste. From the 12 oz bottle bought at Bottlecraft in San Diego.
