Garden Gose is our tribute to lightly tart and slightly slightly salty beers of Leipzig, Germany. We updated it a bit with the addition of lemon peel and a touch of cascade hops. Goseanna!

really good gose style with the right amount of the right fruit, they did a great job with this, but next to the meyer lemon berliner they do (which is one of the best i have ever had), this really pales in comparison. the lemon here is sharper, straight yellow lemon not the sweeter orangier meyer lemon. but the dosage is good, it seems right about as sour as the lacto process yields, and its a very refreshing drink. i think there is just the right amount of salt here too, it adds a very mild brine element but more of an earthy mineral character and seems to enhance the wheat malt aspect of this, which otherwise might be too light for the fruit and the acidity, so the salt helps bright it up into balance. a well honed beer, very dialed in, dry and bubbly too, super refreshing and the pint cans are great. these guys really impressed me with all of their beer, seems weird the beer geeks arent freaking out about this stuff, maybe they arent so vocal in indianapolis... light and crushable full flavored beer that stands out from the crowd of fruited goses. i liked this a whole lot. perfect for this time of year and not too sour that you couldnt slam a four pack in a sitting. killer beer.

Full disclosure.... I bought a single can along with some double ipas that were cold... This one ended up in the freezer and stayed a bit too long.... More of a beer slushie...after a nice thaw I have to say I really enjoyed this bursting with flavor and of course very cold... Will certainly seek out the non slushy version

12oz can. Poured out a hazy, straw-yellow color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of lemon, salt and cracked wheat. Touched of sweet wheat with tart lemon and hints of salt.

16oz can. No dating apparent on can. Appearance: Straw yellow with a touch of haze and minimal white head.
Aroma: Tart lemon with a really strong lactic acidity.
Taste: Really light malt sweetness, building to a strong lactic acidity and puckering lemon tartness. Minimal bitterness and a touch of salt
Mouthfeel: Super light bodied with a might to moderate carbonation
Finish: Lingering lemon tartness is strong, with minimal malt or hop character
Overall: An extremely light version of a gose, heavy on the acidic lemon tartness, with minimal salt character. Really refreshing and drinkable, yet the balance seems to skew heavier to the acidic side than a normal Gose

A: The beer is very hazy light yellow in color. It poured with a finger and a half high bright white head that quickly settled down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light to moderate aromas of lemon peel are present in the nose.
T: The taste is a little sour and has flavors of lemon peel and lactobacillus with hints fo saltiness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and slightly tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This gose is very easy to drink and has some refreshing properties.

Poured from 16oz can into glass. No dating information found.
Cloudy, pale gold colored body. Half a finger of creamy white head upon initial pour. No real coverage of lacing.
Smells like lemon and wheat.
Tastes like tart dry wheat and lemon zest. Slight salinity.
Very effervescent in the mouth, with medium mouth feel. Good carbonation.
Totally refreshing wheat ale with lemon.

From a tall aluminum can, here is another gose. A formerly rare beer seems to be commonplace today. It is a hazy, very pale yellow-gold color. Thin and fizzy head with no real lace at all. The aroma is of nondescript fruit with a slight sourbread note. The taste is dry, and the flavor is moderately full. Lightly saline. Drinkable and okay.
