Notes: From shrubland to woodland to highland, you’ve creekcrossed and switchbacked through it all today. You pause on the trail for a moment and crack open a Chief Peak. The piney hops are first to arrive. The tropical tones of passion fruit, orange, and gooseberry aren’t far behind. Watch as the sky blends from orange to blue. Look out on the valley and trace the contours of the mountain. Breathe in the thinning air, wipe the sweat from your brow, and take another well-earned sip.

On-tap at Enterprise Fish Co., Santa Barbara, CA

A: The beer is clear yellow in color with a bit of Amber hues and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that died down, leaving a large patch of lacy bubbles around the surface, a thin collar around the edge, and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of citrusy grapefruit hops are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of grapefruit hops along with some hints of pine towards the finish. There is a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and quite crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This IPA has a very nice bite on the mouthfeel as it is both crisp and bitter. It also does a good job at hiding its alcohol.

Consumed at the brewery on November 1st, 2015.

Beer is brilliant and clear medium yellow with a fine white head that provides sheeting all the way down.

Aroma is sweet flowers, fresh pepper and cat litter box.

Flavor is masked somewhat by tongue prickle but leaves behind pungent pepper and plumeria and pine. No malt character I can pick out.

Mouthfeel is warm and prickly and medium -bodied.

Pretty solid IPA but nothing especially notable.

On tap at the Surf 'N' Suds Beer Festival held at Carpenteria State Beach in Carpenteria, CA.

Pours a hazy orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, earth, and chewable vitamin aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus fruit, citrus zest, and tropical fruit flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with fantastic citrus and tropical hop flavors, but the chewable vitamin aroma is a bit odd.

Serving type: on tap.

Pours a beautiful gold with really fluffy/thick white head. Aromas of oranges and orange blossoms. Taste is sticky, pungent orange oil, pine and neroli. Medium to full, smooth mouth feel and a mild bitter finish.
