THIS WAS AWESOME! I am a fan of Karl, but never liked any of their IPAs. Tower is just average. But man I tried this at their brewery and was blown away. Then to discover Total Wine had this in 6 pack for $10!! Yeah I bought it on the spot...and it's just as good from the bottle!!

Pours a very nice clear gold with a nice head. Nice lacing on glass

Smell - Citrus bomb!! Nice fruity hoppiness. And smells very refreshing...thirst quenching if that makes sense.

Taste - Amazing. Not too bitter..just right. Great balance of hoppy piney bitterness with the fruity citrus to even things out..true West Coast style done right. Man you can't tell this is a 7% ABV brew.

This goes straight to the top as my favorite IPA along with Stone's Enjoy By series. Beats A Little Sumpin Sumpin as my new go-to IPA.

Bottle. Super juicy, tropical, dank, juicy, refreshing, crisp.

Very light (almost pilsner) color.

This is how I remember the earlier enjoy by's tasting.

I crown this beer king of West coast ipa.

Wowowow.

Type: 12-oz. bottle
Glass: Beer Nerd tulip
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $11.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: March 8, 2016
Consumed: March 8, 2016
Misc.: Bottled on Feb. 10, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. PST

Had never heard of this until getting an email from Bine & Vine about it. Went to check it out and it was already sold out that day. Saw it again at Windmill Farms and had to purchase it. Bottle reads Simcoe, Mosaic, Amarillo and Citra hops. Yes, yes, yes and yes.

Poured a golden, pale, clear color with four fingers of fizzy, white head. A few bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good uneven foamy lacing on the sides of the glass. Good retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled pretty much all the hops described on the bottle, in order Mosaic, Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra. Also tropical - pineapple passion fruit and dry mango, juicy orange, tangerine, floral and lime zest. (Smell - 4.50)

Pretty close to the nose, just very good. In order got pineapple, Mosaic hops, Amarillo hops, tropical notes, spicy Simcoe hops, tangerine pulp, grapefruit, passion fruit, juicy mango, floral hops, caramel and orange juice with pulp. Could actually taste the pulp. (Taste - 4.50)

Light body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, citrusy finish. (Feel - 4.00)

This was just awesome. I didn’t think Karl Strauss could make IPAs this good. Loved it. (Overall - 4.50)

Look is unfiltered. Smell is as expected, amazing. Initial taste is very hoppy. This is an amazing brew. I totally did not expect this from Karl. This is way better than Karl's mosaic session. Great balance of hops and bitterness. If there was alittle more malt, this would be the perfect beer

I'll start by saying I'm a convert too. Most Karl Strauss brews leave me wanting more (or something else with a little more character). This one hits the sweet spot of a hoppy IPA perfectly.

Pours light yellow and cloudy; the head is thin (but I pour more carefully than you might). Smell is hoppy fruit. Fresh and clean.

Taste follows the aroma with hops and citrus out of the bat. Then caramel and malt undercurrent which proceeds to make way for a bitter detail. Sour citrus rind all very well balanced -- equal parts dank earth and oily fruit biscuit (I promise, it's so much better than it sounds). Nothing throws it off -- simply a very solid and flavorful ipa. Crisp and clean finish, a long hoppy aftertaste. Juicy and veggie pine notes.

7% adds some heat but not off-putting. At the right price this is a most excellent drink. Totally a gateway IPA for your doubting friends who might think IPA means it will be one of those bitter Stone brews.

Great new IPA. It even says on the bottle San Diego Style IPA, and that is what it is. Citrusy, bright, hoppy and crisp. If it wasn't for the 7% I could drink this all day long, but I guess I could try.

I've had some top notch IPAs along side this beer and this beer was a step above above all of them. Damn tasty brew, dank, sticky, citrus bomb. Makes some west coast IPAs seem like bready malt bombs.

Karl's new release. This beer is fantastic. Huge hoppy nose, clean and simple malt backbone (almost undetectable), and citrus hop flavors. Bitterness is not overly prominent. This beer drinks like a champ. Well done.

Pours golden and hazy, a good dollop of two finger high white head with decent retention and clumpy lacing on the glass.

Initial whiff is very bright and floral, lychee, kiwi and pineapple. Very different than the usual citrus and pine aromatics that are typical with this brewers IPA and pales. The aroma becomes more citrus centered as it warms.

Bright citrus pith, grassy and pine needles to finish. A nice bitter blast at the end.

Very drinkable body with med-high carbonation, alcohol is well hidden. Bitterness is drying and a touch starchy but really well made.

Okay, first of all, gonna call out that there are a bunch of ratings on this beer that are over 4.5 from people that just joined BA and have less than a handful of reviews but that being said this beer might actually deserve it.

This is the best hoppy beer Karl has put out (even better than Mosaic Session), it has a good aromatics, is well priced and is insanely drinkable. Karl has recaptured my limited attention span, let's see if they can keep it up.

One of my favorite IPAs. It is incredibly fruity and floral without being very bitter or sweet. The mixture of hops is just right, enough so so that the 7% ABV can easily sneak up on you.

2/12/16 (Draft, E.J. Malloy's, Long Beach) nice hoppy and citrus nose, balanced with a nice bitter finish. This was a very good one, as I had three of them!
