Boat Shoes IPABoat Shoes IPA
Notes: Boat shoes are much more than footwear – they’re a state of mind. They say to those around you, “Hey. I’m practical, but I’m also stylish. I may or may not actually own a boat. But I definitely care about the finer things in life, like weekend jaunts to the coast, salty ocean breezes, and hazy India Pale Ales.” Boat Shoes Hazy IPA has flavors of citrus and sweet fruit that linger through a juicy finish. This unfiltered brew is intensely hopped and pairs perfectly with your nautical lifestyle, actual boat not required.

Style: Hazy IPA
Malts: Pale 2-Row, White Wheat
Hops: Pacifica, Simcoe, Mosaic, Pekko, Galaxy
Adjuncts: Rolled Oats

On draft at the Holiday Inn, San Diego pours a very juicy looking, NEIPA style appearing, brew that smells very citrus and hoppy. It tastes great and reminds me of some of my other faves very similar in style. Very easy drinking and absolutely delicious beer. Overall I would love to have this one available back home.
The tap handle displays BOAT SHOES HAZY IPA and I’m left to assume this is the same beer. Considering the lower rating and my rating/review I could be wrong. Damn good beer. My bartender says this came out two months ago. So HAZY may be different.

Short on time so here’s an abbreviated review:

Easy drinking with plenty of flavor. Not as soft a mouthfeel as some NEIPAs.

Loads of stone fruit and grapefruit hops without major bitterness. Lots of lemon and grapefruit rind and zest. Medium mouthfeel with a dry finish.

A great hazy due to the value. $2.25 a pint can here in Murrieta CA.

Hazy but not murky. This is yet another variation in the IPA world-- an unfiltered hoppy brew that doesn't have the raw grain and gunk of what we are told is the NE style. Fruity but not overly "juicy" either. This is more of a light citrus peel burn to enliven the aromatics.

Malty but not overly sweet. A nice balance of fruity hoppy tangy sensations. There is a little unwelcome sediment in the last sip from the can that scrapes the throat, but avoiding that it's a delicious and drinkable brew. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bottlecraft in Liberty Station.

Mostly clear light golden pour with a small white head and some effervescent bubbles. Nice juicy tropical fruit aroma. Taste follows the nose with a juicy (and slightly bitter and dank) tropical fruit flavor.

Canned 1/15/18, consumed 2/6/18

Poured light hazy golden straw with a small head that left good lacing.

Aroma is pretty light but a nice balance of citrus, dank, and pine hops. I really like the aroma, just wish it was a lot stronger.

The taste is really great, bright zesty fruit with dank hops and nice malt balance.

Mouthfeel is medium, just perfect, not pillowy like NEIPAs. Bitterness is pretty perfect, solid but not intense in any way.

Overall this is an outstanding beer. Although unfiltered, definitely more West Coast than North East. I love 'em all, as long as they're great, and this one is absolutely that.
