Tap @ Hamilton's. Pours clear amber with a ringof white bubbles. Clean, light smokey aroma. Crisp smokey flavor with light malt, but without the sweetness in the nose. More buttery and woody. Some bacony goodness as well. Not bad, but also not very strong for a smoked.

Pint at Karl Strauss the other night for around five dollars, reviewed from notes, this beer was the 1st Annual Homebrew Contest Winner from back in October
A-Golden amber color that was a little bit orange, small 1/2 inch bubbly white head, went away quickly, not much retention or lacing
S-Smokiness, burned wood, salt, deli meats, bacon, roasted malts, and BBQ
T-Weird I know but this tasted like a pastrami sandwich to me and was rather repulsive, so much salt and weird texture that it almost had to be choked down, some sweeted toasted malt when it warmed but needed a whole lot more to balance out the super strong smokiness
M-Medium body, needs more carbonation, saltiest mouthfeel in a beer I have experienced, also dry and sticky, taste lingered far too long
D-Could barely drink four or five ounces, should have gotten a taster before, ended up pouring the rest out, salty and heavy, not a good mix, far from smooth
This beer was brewed by a San Diego resident, Matt Morrison and was a special tap last week, he brewed his recipe on site, it has 24 IBUs which I was told if pretty high for a rauchbier but seemed low compared to some of the imperial IPAs out there, would not drink again, not recommended
