This poured a solid milky brown color with yellow highlights, a scant off-white ring of head and nice lacing. The aroma is full malt and chocolate and tart nuttiness. Pretty intriguing. The taste brings out a very interesting blend of tart citrus, and a sour cherry mixed with chocolate malt. Very fine, subtle carbonation and a somewhat chalky feel, a good one. Quite drinkable but a bit intense in a good way.

64 ounce growler from the Karl Strauss in Carlsbad, sat in my car two hours before going into the fridge, then drank eight hours later, consumed 10/28/08, reviewed from notes

A-Color is a mix between a light brown and a clear amber, thin 1/2 inch bubbly off white head that goes away quickly, not much retention, minimal lacing that leaves a ring
S-Caramel, lots of butter, toasted malt, light fruits, whole grains, light hoppiness, banana, roasted nuts, biscuit and bread, smells overly sweet
T-Big caramel flavor up front, some grainy cereal-like tastes in the middle, more sweet malt in the finish but there was some dry spots with the hops there to help things out, gets more candy sweet as time goes on with lots of fruit and cream, I cannot really pick out what exactly they are but I taste berries and bananas, almost a little spice by the end caused by those as well, weird sweet flavor that I could not get used to
M-Malty, chewy, and fruity mouthfeel, this stuff smelled sweet and the taste was right behind it, thin to medium body, carbonation was a little strong, sweet flavors lasted long
D-Had a pint and then a few more ounces, my dad took care of the rest, I was not a huge fan and the sweetness made me kind of sick, this stuff was heavy which is surprising because it was under five percent, there was still some booze in the taste though

I am not exactly familiar with bocks lately but have had my fair share in the past, this was not the best representation I have had, only got this because this was one of the nine selections that my dad or I had not tried yet, would not drink again, not recommended
