Notes / Commercial Description:
Tower 10 IPA boasts hops from beginning to end, and everywhere in between. We fill the brew kettle to the brim with assertive Chinook hops, giving the beer its intense grapefruit and pine flavors that linger through its dry finish. After fermentation, we dry hop with a blend of Cascade and Centennial hops for a floral citrus aroma. A touch of lightly kilned caramel malts make Tower 10 a well balanced, full flavored IPA.
Mission Beach, the late 1980s. Amid a sea of neon bikinis, Tower 10 marked the spot where two college grads and a 75 year-old master brewer drew up plans for the first local craft brewery in San Diego since Prohibition. Named in honor of our first good idea, Tower 10 IPA is brewed to inspire the next one.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a standard pint glass. VERY slight haze clouds a honey-colored pour, which is topped by a sturdy 1/2" head. Really mild smell: no hops in the nose, but maybe a bit of...corn (not sure)? Hops dominate the taste with a pleasant bitterness, but I struggle to call this a "hoppy beer," because the whisper of caramel and malt never quite disappears. This strikes me as a good "beginners beer" -- a beer for those looking to expand their horizons, but perhaps not completely satisfying to more experienced beer lovers. Overall a pleasant enough pour however, and one I may well buy again if and when I'm sharing at a BBQ or something like that.

Appearance: Dark Amber, reasonable head that remained as a thin layer at the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing
Aroma: Floral, almost perfume-like, malt, grassiness
Taste: Almost like eating pot pourri followed by concentrated tonic water. Intensely floral and herbal with some citrus, dull malty notes followed by a very long, very powerfully bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium body, medium carbonation, dry.
Overall: Not a beer I could recommend, it was almost like a parody of the "more of everything" US style IPA mantra. Perhaps I would try it on draught to see if it was different but wouldn't have the bottle again.

Comes out darker than average SRM for an ipa, this has some light brown/auburn notes to it. Thin head 1/4" off white. Aroma was maltier than hoppy.
Taste also showed the malt backbone, just as the SRM and aroma did. Almost forges head first into English IPA territory, but ultimately, its American, they just have the hop variety too traditional and the amount too restrained, while dialing up the crystal malt notes like its the 90s.
Earthy. Would not repeat or bang again.
