Apparently Sleeman's logo is a beaver in front of a giant maple leaf? Wow, now THAT'S Canadian!

My first time having any beer by Sleeman. Purchased in Balfour, BC for an obnoxious price that makes me feel sorry for Canadians and their beer pricing.

Poured from a 355mL can into a hotel room glass (that's actually glass.) 5.2% ABV. Undecipherable freshness code.

A: One finger head from a moderately hard pour. Head reminds me of what you see with root beer and is attractive as well as sticking around for a few minutes before reducing to patchiness. Color is a brown-copper mix and is once again attractive. Some floaties present when held to a light. Surprising amount of lacing.

S: Metalic and sweet. Burnt caramel. A little nuttiness. Some fruit peeks through (raspberry, strawberry, plum.)

T: Matches the smell. Sweet, but it mellows as the beer warms. Burnt caramel, nuttiness, and light fruits. Finishes clean. Tastes best when only chilled, not cold.

M: High carbonation that is soda-like and too much here. Watery. Some quick bitterness near the end.

O: I think there is a good beer here trying to get out from under the cheapness. Tastes better the more I drink as I'm able to find the goodness slowly. I could learn to like this occasionally, but just. At the price I paid this beer can go to Hell.

Poured into a Stien

A- A nice carbonation with a lasting head. Clear light amber colour.
S- A very light toffee smell with finishes of slight hops
T- A very nice taste of sweet toffee and a slight hop finish, much like the smell. It is a little bit watery throughout.
M- Light bodied with lots of carbination
O- A classic beer from Sleeman. Nice to have with barbecued chicken or ribs on a hot summers day.

Poured from a 355mL can into a chalice
A- Extremely bubbly clear honey brown color with a delicate white head. Looks more like soda than beer.
S- Smells solely of sweet toffee and not much else, continuing the more soda than beer theme.
T- Upfront toffee sweetness over a very watery beer
M- Extremely watery and light bodied, bubbly and sickly sweet like a cheap soda
O- Truth be told I used to really love this beer prior to really reaching beer geekery. Now it just tastes one noted and plain paired with overwhelming sweetness.

Tastes very sweet, molasses like, gives strange aftertaste. The fizziness is also off
