341ml bottle poured into pint glass 12/2/14

A bright yellow liquid with plenty of bubbles but just a short lived thick film that leaves zero lace, looks pretty basic, about what I expected with a little more color

S slightly skunky, a little grass, lemon, apple juice and cracker, nothing special

T has some grassy hops but there's some skunk in there and some bleached paper, not quite offensive but leaves a little something to be desired

M thin but not quite watery, sorta just foams up and flattens out in your mouth, has a bit of a cardboard aftertaste

O it could be much worse but at the end of the day shes just another macro

I was expecting something rank but this was drinkable but nothing worth looking for and I wouldn't buy it again

341 mL bottle taken from a Sleeman Selections pack picked up at the LCBO; served well-chilled.

Pours a familiar golden-yellow colour, highly effervescent and topped with one finger of fizzy, sparkling white head. It disappears over the next minute or two, soon settling into a dense cap and collar. I don't have much to say about the aroma - it's a little grainy, with some sweet corn and wet hay. Pretty basic pale lager stuff; not really off-putting, but not all that inspiring, either.

And honestly, 'basic pale lager' pretty much says it all, as this is probably the least creative brew under the Sleeman banner that I have ever tasted (yes that includes the Original Draught). Pale, grainy malt sweetness forms the bulk of the flavour, with green apple skin and corn also contributing. Dry finish with a wisp of grass - like most of Sleeman's flagship beers the hops are basically an afterthought. Light-bodied and watery, with strong, fizzy carbonation appropriate for the style. Highly drinkable, and that is the only category where this beer excels.

Final Grade: 2.88, a C. Sleeman Silver Creek Lager is very forgettable, but I will grant it some faint praise by saying that I like it more than the Original Draught - this one has more of a Euro lager feel to it, unlike the OD which is too corny and sweet for my liking. While this is a passable lager that I could theoretically drink again, I doubt I'd spend money on it - there are just way too many quality imported lagers available at great prices these days for quasi-premium stuff like this to be worth repeated purchases. Most BAs should be able to pass on this one without missing anything.

12oz Bottle from the Marche Omni QC for $2

Appearance - Clear yellow colour with an average size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there isn't much lacing. The head lasted for around 2 minutes.

Smell - Corn, apples, grains

Taste & Mouth - There is an average amount of carbonation and I can taste corn, apples, and grains. There is also a slight amount of bread. It ends with a corn/grain aftertaste.

Overall – Definitely lots of adjunct flavour going on. Not something I'd buy again, but drinkable.

341ml bottle. Haven't seen this one in a long time around here, now I find a single at a crappy little northern Alberta booze merchant. S'ok, except for this brewery's continuing insistence on using clear bottles.

This beer pours a super-clear, pale golden yellow colour, with one finger of thinly foamy, wan dirty white head, which leaves damned little beyond a few temporary instances of specked lace around the glass as it quickly bleeds away.

It smells of sour corn and rice mash, a hint of semi-coherent, presentable breadiness, and weak grassy, weedy hop simulacrums. The taste is thin, acrid corn grist, stale green apples, a hint of saltine cracker, and damned-near non-existent earthy, weedy hops.

The carbonation is kind of fizzy and somewhat metallic, the body on the light side, and not really worthy of any smoothness consideration. It finishes barely off-dry, the sour graininess and dead grassy 'hoppiness' making this nothing less than a straight-up gulper, for all the wrong reasons.

I don't know how this got promoted to the APL category - it has adjunct unpleasantness written all over it. Little to recommend it, and not worthy of a repeat.

A - Pours a golden colour, thin layer of head with no retention or lacing.

S - Sweet corn and bready malts, hints of grassy notes and a metallic finish.

T - Flavour is mild, sweet corn and grassy notes with a heavy bready flavour that lingers alongside a skunky finish.

M - Medium bodied, prickly and wet.

O - Mild flavoured, easy drinking, but reminiscent of any widely available macro. Needs a flavour boost, but still tasty nonetheless.
