I finally had to go to the Brick brewery to get one of these franchise-brewed Canadian Andechs’...they were sold out at the beer stores I went to... the brewer informed me it takes 2 months to make another batch. The pour revealed a nice clear golden lager...medium carbonation, tight 1 finger white head. Aromas of sour dough bread, sweet malts and german hops. Started with a mellow malt pronounced creamy body that balanced well with hop tartness.... finish was clean with lingering sour dough tastes. A very nice quaffable Dortmunder...I’d recommend this to any lager drinker...a very good representation of the helles style and a near perfect Canadian reproduction of the Kloister Andecher helles

The beer after repositioning itself from the brown bottle to my glass appears a luminous gold color with a massive bright white head that is frothy in texture and as it fades from view the resulting lace forms a velum like sheet to obfuscate the glass. Nose is crisp and fresh to the senses, malt sweet and the start nicely malted also somewhat sweet with the top fair to middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is brisk in its acidity and the hops delightful in their spiciness quite dry aftertaste that lingers long on the palate, a nice beer that I seldom see, so it was a pleasure to procure a bottle.

--Poured a light straw like in color. It had a nice size head that thinned but kept some right until the end.
--The lacing was good. More than I expected. Smell was standard.

I must admit that this is my first taste of a beer of this style. I would have preffered to try an actual German beer but it is Friday night and this was right there on the shelf! It is a good beer. Not really what I expected, but not in a bad way. It is sweeter than I was anticipating. I would like to try another beer of this style to make a comparison. Overall not bad, but not great either.

Nice sustaining two finger head. Frothy and creamy. Mild nose with champagne-like scent. Smell was very mild. Kind of an average lager taste, not too much going on. Can taste that munich malt flavour so typical of a helles but only faintly. Decent biscuity aftertaste with a mild bitterness. Soft smooth mouthfeel. Smooth easy drinker. However, overall not too impressed.

Clear golden colour with a coarse white head that settles to a film and gives up spotty lace.

Smell is of malt. Slightly sweet taste of malt, minor presence of hops. First mouthful had a noticeable taste of grain. Mouthfeel is heavy, slightly sticky.

Unremarkable overall, not one I'd seek out.
